Greetings, I didn't find an Introductions topic on this forum, so I post here as it is JMs that get me on this forum in the first place. Couple of months ago I saw Super Shogun Shadowtrooper, and I decided to have new midlife crisis hobby in getting the jumbos I never got when I was a kid (I got a couple of die-cast shoguns). I am French-born so for me Goldorak was the defining moment (long time before I discovered Star Wars and Marvel comics). Since I managed to get a Mazinger, Raydeen, Dragun, and Goldorak, plus the Super 7 Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. All in a rather good nick with everuthing working but missing accessories and with stickers wearhered. Now chasing a Gaiking. I am also collecting some chogokins and ohter japanese robot stuff (I actually started by getting the whole Marvel Shogun Warriors run, which I am reading with my son, who is very much into it too). Living in the UK, it seems super robots were not as popular in the 70-80s as they were in the US or in France, so there are not that many JMs locally, but three of the four I got were from the UK (and very reasonably priced, maybe a consequence of the low local demand), the Goldorak I got from France, where they are legion but also very sought after (the Sorbonne university in Paris organised a symposium on Japanese super robots this year; this tells you how popular and highly regarded are those robots there!) The only shortcoming of collecting JMs over, let's say stamps or even comics, is the space they take!

Greetings. Glad to hear your son is enjoying the comics. Be patient and buy what you like, and you will end up with a collection you love, regardless of its size.
Good luck and have fun!

Thanks. My son and I definitively have fun! We also watch the cartoons. He made his own Getter 3 out of legos. His sister, who is a bit younger, likes to shoot the missiles with the Mazinger ( I just have the two from the Boba Fett so I need to police that closely!) and shooting the Raydeen fist (I don't have a bird missile so we made one out of legos...) They know they are old toys but they are careful, and what are toys if children cannot play at least a little with them?

welcome on board! You'll find that the diecasts are best on space.... the jumbos, best on killing your wallet and home space Ed
