What I sincerely hope is for the game companies to stop doing "exclusives" and release their games across all platforms so everyone can enjoy Yeah, dream on

It's generally cheaper and less time-consuming for a team to work on a single system (console and hand-held), which usually happens to be whatever is most popular in Japan. From what I understand, there are three development teams for the typical SRW game (tactical RPG). Typically, 2 are chosen to make console SRWs and the remaining one does the hand-held SRW.

Mine's still on a boat, so not really much to say. And I don't really have as much time to play video games as I used to, between Being An Adult(TM) and my other hobbies.

Mine's still on a boat, so not really much to say. And I don't really have as much time to play video games as I used to, between Being An Adult(TM) and my other hobbies. Haha...like most of us here are not adults long ago already But I hear you. I "lucked out" in not having any kids, so less time tied up with family. But still have to dedicate family time with wife and pet, as well as daily chores. But I usually have time to myself for some hobby or gaming at night after 10 or 11pm. Then its up to me to manage whether I want to play more and wake up like a zombie, or be a responsible adult and play less so I can get to work and be more productive. My game hit the US shore. But not sure where or how long until it show up at my door. Haven't look forward to a game this much for a long while. Played SRW OG Moon Dwellers a bit (maybe 20+ stages in then stopped), but that is more of a warm up for SRW V than anything else.

This was a LONG time in making.... I awaited DEDADES for this to come true! Many have said this will NEVER happen due to the license issue but it found its way.
Apperently, the End of the world IS near and am just glad i will get to play this.

Many have said this will NEVER happen due to the license issue but it found its way The English translation was not made for the US market but for Region 3 (Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau). Only three games in the SRW franchise have proper North American releases: Original Generation, Original Generation 2, and Endless Frontier. As stated by the SRW series producer, a standard SRW game will never be localized for North America due to the legal hassle involved.

I am fine the way its released now. Don't need to be available locally, as long as I can order it online. Heck, some folks even set up a new Singapore or Indonesia PSN account and just download the digital version there directly. I don't have a lot of hard drive space, so don't mind the wait on the physical disc. Got me checking my tracking number every day though But even if there is no English, I'll just get the Japanese ver. like I used to do. Just that English makes it more accessible for friends I know, in case they want to buy or borrow it later, since a couple of them are toy collectors just like us, but never tried a SRW game before...and didn't realize how much they missed out on.

The first SRW games I've played were F Final for the Saturn and Shin/Neo for the PS but I stopped after less than 10 stages due to my dissatisfaction with the minimal graphical animation. Alpha Gaiden, which I got in 2001, was the one that fully got me into the franchise. Since then I've played nearly all the games in the series produced after Alpha Gaiden.
I play the crossover/licensed SRWs for the eye candy and the OG SRWs for the story.

I started a little earlier. Watched my brother played most of SRW3EX (where Cybuster first got introduced), but didn't start on my own until SRW4 on SNES. Played Alphas, then jumped around between a couple handheld and standalone releases and OGS, but not all of them. Took a long break, and then played Z2.1. While enjoyed Z2.1, didn't like it being such a long continuing series with 5 games....come on now, money grabber! Warmed up a bit with MD, and now the real comeback on SRW V after a few years of hiatus.

I guess i forgot to explaining fully by adding "one way or another." What do i care about OGs? i played both. They are not the same as having the proper licensed super robots....not to me. Doesnt have Mazingers and, doesnt have Getters....i dont care if its translated in Martian. OG is NOT SRW Again...not to me. I care about Endless even less, didnt even care to play it.

I like how Bandai Namco is partly reliant on the earnings of the OG games to help finance the licensing fees for their crossover SRWs, which have a smaller profit margin.
According to the series producer, they're planning to adapt SRW W's original characters/mecha/story and wrap up the Masou Kishin storyline in the next OG game. As for Z, K, L, NEO, UX, BX, and possibly, V, it's rumored that they'll be set in an alternate OG universe.

I like OGs quite a bit during the OG1 & OG2 era. Really like the characters & mechs like Ryusei's team, ATX Team, Elzam, Sangar, RyuKuOh, RaiOh...etc. (awesome music themes too) Very interesting gang and backstories, enough to get their own anime show later on. But as they need to pump more games out, and keep adding to the time line, it start to feel very convoluted. Feels very much so when playing Moon Dwellers when the game has its own built in wiki to explain all the terms and events during the dialogues, digging 7-8 pages deep before backing out to continue the dialogue if you get lost in some terms. Really hard to follow (even though I already played some of the previous OGs and know the characters well). Not sure how they can keep building it without turning it into a mess...
Too many wars, too many events, too many big important incidents, and all happened within a couple years time.

Captain Okita is now my number one ace. The Yamato has very high evasion for a mothership and can tank due to its wave motion shields.
Benched everything from Evangelion (never enjoyed the show) and Nadesico (not worth using without Gai Daigoji), unless they're forced deploys.

Benched everything from Evangelion (never enjoyed the show) and Nadesico (not worth using without Gai Daigoji), unless they're forced deploys. Yamato looks sick in the trailers, with those awesome 3D animation sequence (rarely seen in SRW). Just finish watching the show, anticipating the game. Great show. In terms of who I am gonna bench, most likely the non-U.C. Gundams like Seed Destiny or 00 related ones. More of a U.C. timeline guy here. As for other folks about to start the game but want to take advantage of the main character's birthday & blood type input to get the best spirit commands (spells in this game) to your liking, and can read a bit of Japanese, here is the complete list of spirit command list for that, as well as the special 11/11B combo that is based on the birthday of the producer of the franchise famous for each game. For those that don't care for it or want to keep the spirit command unlocks as surprises while playing the game, please ignore the link below: sumaga.ldblog.jp/archives/14205248.html

Finally got my copy delivered on Saturday, and had a couple days of play time. Enjoying it quite a bit, and the higher refresh rate on my TV helps make the animations even smoother. Though some units seem to suffer really low frame count on the animation (like Huckebein's Roche Saber). Have mix feelings on the animation. On one hand, they look really awesome in some units (Yamato), on the other hand, it seems that they cut corners on others they shouldn't have (Huckebein & Grungust, when they are meant to be featured special guest appearance), as if a step backwards from the Moon Dwellers quality. Also not used to the pilots' SP being halved for everybody on deploy, and you have to slowly build it back up each turn by 5. I see the reason why they have that mechanic, but getting only 5 back each turn seems very little/slow. 10 makes more sense to me. Also, some new translation on Spirit Commands and menu layout further confuses me as they didn't stick with what they used in Moon Dwellers. That's one part I prefer the Japanese over the English, the menus and commands.
But all in all, I am enjoying this quite a bit, and some of the new gameplay systems they implemented are quite nice. I am at scenario 4 right now, so things are still pretty slow and easy. But I am having fun, and it will only get better the further I go.

Disappointed with the lack of the Joint Dragon Fire from Might Gaine. Maybe it's actually in the game and I haven't unlocked it but, so far, it doesn't look like the combination attack made it in.
This is the second SRW where I had the protagonist (Souji) choose the real robot upgrade (the first being Z2 Saisehen) because it fit the character.

Definitely prefer the more powerful setup and flashier moves here. I start noticing some units reused animation from Z3. Fortunately, it doesn't affect me much as I didn't play Z3, so all is new to me. Though for some particular reuse, I would have preferred Z2's cooler animation instead, without spoiling anything particularly.
