Never noticed this before but I see on the bottom of the little car it comes with, the word Tonka is on there. Also has the words "made in Japan." I did some research and it looks like some Tonka vehicles were made in Japan. I guess it was just easier to buy the toy directly from Tonka instead of making their own. Unless there is another story behind this. Is this where the Popy / Bandai relationship started as we know Gobots were brought here by Tonka. Perhaps Mattel had first dibs on the license but passed? Maybe Popy didn't like the way Mattel changed their toys for The US? Gotta love those Jumbos. Always something new.

I never knew this. Great bit of trivia to share!
Now I would have guess tomica.....not Tonka. aka Tommy toys.
Now if anyone has the Bullmark Mach Baron plastic toy with diecast car.... read that car and let us know its maker.
