Hopefully this figure when combined is one of those figures you can just pick up and have fun with without worrying about stuff falling off or disassembling. Aye. That's my biggest want for this thing. Bigger pics, but with watermarks, here: facebook.com/GingAnime/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1114927325235689

AWESOME find guys , my first impression honestly i expected more the lions looking more compact with better legs, the huge disappoint for me is the blue lion Voltron looks kinda chubby, i guess the articulation will be limited ? looking at the accessories i dont see any covers for the legs so they will set there, no flaming blazing sword, also they took couple of ideas from KOB two faces one normal one angry also and the double blades ... come on Bandai where is the originality the price is high i thought it will be like $250ish so far for me the KOB is better but i will wait till i get this in my hands and compare them personally

Release: December 2016 Price: 32400 yen Height: 270 mm taller then Voltes V by 30 mm shorter then God Sigma by 30 mm. good enough. i was afraid at first that it will also be at Danguard Ace size. but after seeing the price point today.. it aint gonna happen.

Will reserve final judgment til we get HQ pics but, right now I like what I see. I really hope you can put him in a more natural pose cause I can't stand figures being stuck in that extreme "A" stance.

Looks... kinda goofy? but it's probably just these pics; surely. Anyway, a Voltron with lion legs that don't look cheap and nasty - is a first here. Voltron toys always have the crappiest looking lion legs for some reason. These look to be nice beveled castings with sweet chrome. Really hope the paint job is up to their higher standards, it'll be killer if it is, hopefully the perfect scale they chose (in my book), will have allowed for a high quality paint job.

Man. This piece does look very tempting. I never got to grow up watching Voltron in its hayday but man is this new SoC beyond tempting.

I am liking what I see. I own the KOB, and thought it was a little too slender and too tall. This SoC seems like a cross between the KOB and the old school, size wise. I'm really digging the stout look. However, I feel the lion feets should have hid better. Not going to stop me from buying that when it comes out though.
Oh ya, Toynami's lions can go sleep in the jungle. Good riddance.

After mulling over the pics I gotta say I fall into the underwhelmed camp for now. Perhaps we should have lowered our expectations just a bit. After YEARS of waiting, hoping, dreaming we just set that bar way too high I think. My opinion could change once we see in hand shots of him at SDCC but right now KOB spot on my shelf is secured for the time being. Speaking KOB I will say the wings on the back looks much better than the SOC. The hinge is nice a flush with the wing while SOC sticks out like a sore thumb destroying the look.

I love the face, perfect paint, beefy proportion on the combined robot and the awsome SOC sculpt.
But, Theres def room for improvements visually....like black lions proportion, and i agree with some bros here that lion legs should have been hidden. As in have them removable, covered in plates or even better, rotatable to hide inside the lion body?
Still, im there at December. Not going to miss out on this.
who IS GX 70? The new Voltron perhaps?!? Heheheh

The more you look at it the more you see the old one but with modern or Bandai's new engineering. Obviously this will be nice and fits in any SoC collection because the scale is perfect. the KOB is way too big at least for my collection.

I'm liking the chunky look for the robot mode. Looks like a voltron that can go toe to toe with a robeast. Almost SRC-like. There are some things that look off to me in the lion modes. Like the necks/upper torso of the blue and yellow feels a little narrow. Wish they were a little thicker. Loving all the accessories. The blue in the sword kinda threw me off. I always thought it's been just one solid color. Anyway, can't wait for December. Time to start saving!

Wait if this is GX-71 what is GX-70? Maybe GX-70 gets Voltron packaging and GX-71 gets a GoLion box. Or vice versa. I'd not be surprised if they did something like that in this case. One release for domestic and the other international.

Somebody please hand Voltron a piece of bacon. He'd get it himself, but poor Voltron doesn't have thumbs.

Slightly OT, but whatever happened to the Madtoy Voltron ? Is that still happening?
With the height being reported at 27CM (10.6") I wonder if that includes the wingtips? If so then the actual head height would be 9" or so, same as Voltes.

One release for domestic and the other international. Naw, if Bandai went that rout they'd just put a letter by the number like their other special releases. Like say if they did release a NA version it would probably be GX-71V (v for voltron).

wow at HQ.. definitely better looking than any Golion released up to date. clean and refreshing hehe.. It just screams "Im the Real Voltron!" HQ pics courtesy of ginganime im kinda thinking what concept or gimmick does the base represent.. could have been a Castle of Lions stylized or King Alfred's tomb with a Lion Key gimmick hehe.. looks like it does not mean anything.. just a random weapon rack. btw something seems protruding at the side.. perhaps a connection for future expansion parts lol

I think it looks great so far. I wish it were bigger but I'm still going to get it. Congrats to those who will see it SDCC. Get the good pictures for us.
