The Big O add-on set aftermarket price is enough to buy 2 Big Os.

The Big O add-on set aftermarket price is enough to buy 2 Big Os. Yeah. That's just wrong. But then again, Big O was better received in the States. Too bad Bandai Premiums don't normally deal in foreign markets.

That was a great price, but still an extra 1.5 Big O you are paying for accessories alone. Out of the comparo, I like Bandai the best and most classy. The others has some merits, but overall too skinny and slim in areas I don't expect them to. Bandai has the best overall look, but iffy face sculpt and wide chest.

ok first lets give a huge red X on Toynami version, its just like comparing paper to rocks
the competition is between SOC & MT, in my opinion both looks good, come with ton of accessories and offer a different take on Voltron, however if Bandai didnt flex its muscles and put some decent joints to support the figure and to give it a wide range of articulation MT will take the win and will still the best Voltron available (for some)
EDIT
i remembered something, when Bandai did GGG they posted a clip on YT about the articulation and the transformation , how come they didn't do so for Voltron ??

Only if Bandais had a bigger head with more anime accurate face, its Voltron be without a doubt the best....looks wise.
"Imho,"Of course....

I still don't get this MT KoB love bordering on obsession. Yes, the KoB is an awesome figure, beautiful interpretation of Voltron. However, most here still judge the SOC Golion based on a prototype! Which is bound to have loose joints! If that is so, might as well comment on the incomplete paint! Articulation wise, the SOC is already a winner, especially on the individual lions legs. Even the combined Voltron looks to have good articulations. Heck, I'll go all the way to claim that the Ultimate Ex Voltron has the best perceived articulations! Anime-accuracy wise, bear in mind that MT 'official' version have not been released yet, and current status is unknown. Again, as of now, the SOC Golion wins here. My opinion.

For me the soc golion looks best proportion wise. The KOB is still a good gokin but I still prefer the original design of voltron. It's been a while since I was excited for a new soc and I'm already thinking of ways to save money for this since I've already secured the funds for the childbirth of my baby in a few months. The pre orders here are already closed but I'm sure there will be a next batch and I can wait for that.

Hey guys, I just got back from SDCC last night. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up, Timmy. The show is always awesome, but also overwhelming. I got a chance to see the one on display at the Tamashii booth. Here are my thoughts upon seeing it in person. My very first impression was not very positive. My biggest issue was I thought the torso/abdomen area looked too thick. And then there was the ever present thing about not having the lions' legs disappear in combined mode. It also bothered me that the blue and yellow lions' heads are bigger than the black lion's head. In lion modes it is very noticeable, and I just wasn't used to seeing those proportions between the two different body types. On the contrary, I thought the red and green lions themselves were just about perfect. Especially the green lion with its nicely rounded design. After wandering the floor, I came back on the second day, and for some reason, I had a completely different perception of it. As I walked up to the display and saw it again, it looked much better. Maybe the initial shock of seeing the thicker proportions compared to the Toynami one caught me off guard, but seeing it the second time was a different, more positive experience. Additionally, I realized that the pose they had it in did not help with the torso region being arched all the way back. It looked like he was sticking his stomach out. Not a flattering pose at all. I sort of wanted to ask someone if they could go into the case and pose it better, but I couldn't muster up the nerve to do so amidst the hectic activity and traffic in the booth. After returning to the booth countless times over the weekend, I have warmed up to the figure to the point of really wanting it, and being really excited over it again. My brother and I even made several trips back and forth between Tamashii and Toynami to compare the Voltrons at the show, and we both came to the conclusion that the SOC is by far the most superior one available. (Sorry bros, but I don't consider the Mad Toys one a contender. Too stylized for my taste.) I am also thrilled that it will have the option of displaying the weapon stand with either the Voltron logo or GoLion logo. That was a brilliant decision to include. There are still a few nerdly fanboy nitpicks I have and things I wish they had done differently, though. Such as the curved details on all the lions' mouths and the weird indents on the tips of the cross. I still think the torso and overall stature is just a *tad* too thick. Also, it is neat they include the optional number stickers, but I think it would have been nicer if they were plastic tiles with sculpted numbers on one side and a flat surface on the other that could be flipped around on a hinge or something. I am also unsure how I feel about all the silver parts that used to be white, such as the mouths of the lions and the detail on the wings. I definitely would not object to a "Respect for Lion Box" version with more vintage chogokin paint and detailing such as the white parts and chrome waist and thighs. Everything considered, though, my conclusion is that this is, for me, the best toy representation of Voltron/Golion we have ever had. December can't come soon enough!

After the release of soc voltrn in SDCC, I feel very disappointed. I am very very very confused that why Bandai produced a super hot robot in a half-hearted way. Every one thought they could have done better, but they did not. Suppose if Bandai can make a 90 marks soc voltron(full marks is 100),they can sell a million products. Because many super voltron fans will buy double or three or more for collections. Additionally,it will attract other fans like transformers hobbyist. But if they make a 70 marks voltron, they can sell three or four hundred thousand at most.Cause most fans will buy only one. Why did Bandai givp up so many profits? It seems that they donˊt care. After the release of soc voltron ,many fans feel disappointed that it just a better reproduction of old voltron.
I guess there may be four reasons. First, the localism of Japanese. Bandai think voltron is no longer Japanese animation,it is an US brand, so they donˊt need to try their best to design. The main markets of soc voltron are US and Europe, and American and European can accept the lower quality than Japanese. On the other hand, if they are going to design a pure Japanese robot, they will try their best to get high scores, like gx40 Godmars,gx60 Godsigma and gx 68 Gao Gai Gar. Obviously, Bandai didnˊt think highly of voltron as other super robots, likes Godmars and Godsigma . Godmars is 28cm and Godsigam is 30 cm tall, but soc voltron is only 27 cm tall.
Second, Bandai had some unpleasant negotiation experience with WEP before. May be WEP gave a very low profit sharing to Bandai .The Japanese felt they were not respected, so they designed a barely qualified soc voltron intentionally.
Third, WEP or Dreamworks give a very low profit sharing to Bandai this time. Bandai feel the project is chicken ribs. Even they work hard ,they canˊt get more money. But if they give up this project, they feel it isnˊt worth to do that.
Fourth, some one guess Bandai may preserve their strength to design a soc voltron Ver 2.0 in future. I think this porbability may be minimum. There are few precedents for Bandai to redesign a soc ver2.0, they will only repaint the soc but not redesign. Everyone expect a Gx13 DANCOUGA ver2.0, but it seems that Bandai have no plans to do that. I am in my early thirties, I have wait so many years for voltron, and I donˊt want to wait another ten years .
Can anyone give our advice to Bandai to ask them to improve the soc voltron? Especially the face of voltron, it looks so ugly and thin. Please remember voltron in the animation, his face looks more full and handsome, just like a handsome young man in 20 years old. Look at the Gx13 DANCOUGA ,his face is more handsome than soc voltron, and donˊt forget ,it was relaeased in 2003! You canˊt imagine Bandai will go backwards in 2016! The face of Gx13 DANCOUGA provides a noble look, a pairs of dignified eyes and a confident smile. His face is lively and looks so delicate that just like a human face. On the contrary, the face of soc voltron looks like a puppet sculpture. The eyes are so dull and and the mouth is stiff. The face looks as a fox face“▽”.
I am a super voltron fan like you ,all I want is an excellent soc voltron. Everyone of you has 300$ budget for the soc voltron ,but you have the right to refuse a barely qualified product. Especially under the circumstance of economic crisis these days, you should pay more economically and efficiently. Most of you can launch a big signature campaign on facebook or twitter, you should let Bandai hear your voice.
Every one of you should have a voice. Bandai, please donˊt let us down!

Agree with kongfupanda. The SOC Golion is probably going to be best anime accurate Voltron to be produced, but it does have three large flaws to me: 1. The wide and short torso, 2. The long sharp face and 3. The disproportionately larger blue and yellow lions heads compared to the black lion.

One thing people seems to forget, it that i tmight be impossible to get a full anime accurate version of a toys, no matter wich one. Reason; Physics
A figure must stand on his own, have balance. The weight must be central, if not the joint will weaken over time (Fewture Models ex.)
This is Voltron, it'S not Optimus Prime with it's big leg, where the weight is down. Just the fact that the central piece is the largest and biggest one, the Black Lion, the torso must be short for the gravity center, else it will tend to fall down.
And also, those are still prototype that you see!

The face does look kinda flawed but it might be changed or look differently when seen in person. I still think the engineering on this soc will be great. Bandai knows Voltron still has a huge market on the west so I'm certain they will not mess this figure up as it as it will affect the name of the soc brand. We all know that it is impossible to do anime accurate transformation and proportions so it doesn't bother me to see the lion legs exposed.

you must own a KOB to know what most of us are talking about, the figure took some hard core poses totally fine, poses that will break most of huge diecast combiners, its show you how much passion and well engineered the figure is, just because it have a modern looks that's doesn't mean it awful by any chance also are we going to spend alot of time admiring the lions legs not Voltron ? i honestly don't care about the lions as much as i care about Voltron, most of us will display it in Voltron mode anyways on MT FB page they said Dream works asked for product samples, i guess maybe they sent that samples to Bandai since their Voltron have alot of KOB ideas in it as many of us said before its not fair to put our final thoughts yet we need to have both figures in hand and BTW according to some stores the new official KOB got the approval, and it will be available between August - September

And also, those are still prototype that you see! You can get an anime accurate Voltron in robot form no problem. Bandai's SRC line is the perfect format for it. Just as they did with the Sentai's and God Sigma. The problem is when you try and make a perfect transforming anime accurate Voltron. Which is never going to happen. The Lions proportions shift via anime magic. Not to mention the dreaded lion legs disappearing. Honestly looking back at some of the original GoLion materials and offerings, I can't help but suspect that Toei and Popy/Bandai all likely considered the exposed Lion Legs in robot mode to be the cannon detail. All of the period toys have them, including the ones that don't transform. The only place the legs disappear is in the cartoon. And this was obviously anime magic to reduce art and animation tasks.

Not too happy this is only 10" tall like Voltes. I was hoping for God Marz or Daltanious height. But for what Golion is to SOC, I'll still take it. Better than nothing.
