i couldn't sleep and all this talking about Voltron made me want to hold one, Toynami 30th anniversary is the closest but it wont cut it so i digged out KOB from the all the boxes i have stored, lucky i didn't throw the brown box it came in it and honestly after forming Voltron and do some poses i realized Bandai have alot to do to beat it, the anime look and taking couple of ideas from it wont just do it for me its going to be a long wait till December

yes bro s_gokin kob is truly majestic. im really not sure why people dont like it or try to minimize it. its by far the best voltron on the market to me. I know thats not a popular stance, but the bar is set very high in my eyes.

yes bro s_gokin kob is truly majestic. im really not sure why people dont like it or try to minimize it. its by far the best voltron on the market to me. I know thats not a popular stance, but the bar is set very high in my eyes. Well there were some QC issues with some of the first releases with Chachipower of Rocket Punch Army having an issue with one of the leg lions not locking on as Voltron. That and even with the new licensed version of the mold for King of Beasts, the Lions look rather stylized and not quite the same as the classic anime look. And of course the Toynami one is way to thin amongst other issues. We also have some of the articulation lost for the rocket punch gimmick as well as some lacking outward movement for the individual lion legs. Though to be fair, the only real substantial plus one can see for the SoC Go-Lion without having the actual figure in hand is the confirmation of more of the individual lion weapons outside of the mouth blades and even some weaponry within the mouths such as the Laser Magnum and Foot Missiles added with detachable heads for the Four Lion Attack no past or present Voltron before the SoC release has been able to do outside of maybe a Standard Release Popy mold. I personally am really loving this anime look of the SoC along with more play features for the individual lions as well as the Soul of Chogokin quality one comes to expect from said line. That is not to say there won't be some minor possible issues such as pathetically easy paint wear like with Gaigar's mane for the SoC Gaogaigar release.

^ ^ If it'll be like this, I prefer the legs exposed.

One can dream... I am SO GLAD that Bandai did not go this route. Chogokins to me need to have the bling chrome. No knock to you OJA in any way, but seeing that mock-up photograph without the limbs is so unflattering regardless if that's anime accurate.

Goes to show you bandai can't please everybody. But then, maybe they could if they come up with the leg covers.

Ok I can understand that a SOC Voltron is a huge deal to many and not so to some but let's all be respectful to each other.

I'm going to pre-order from Amazon. Is that acceptable?

Amazon is great. You have to wait a month or so after japan releases it and its always more expensive, but their customer service and shipping is unbeatable.

there's was alot of QCs honestly, but its normal since they rushed the first production run however my unit is one of the few that was produced in 2014 and hardly have any QCs, also they didn't aim for the classic anime looks, its more like Voltron for the 3rd dimension anime but with better design, and that was the only one thing people criticized about it, the rest is so good even Bandai put some of it in their version also all of those QCs were fixed in the new official release they also updated the articulation at the end it will be fun to do a comparison when the two are in the hand

If there are issues, return it and they'll ship you another one right away, if not sold out.

I mean it's not out yet and we don't just believe what they said. idk... but like you said KOB ver. is more (modern) Voltron, and the SoC is classic and more faithful to the old design. The size of this SoC ver. is just fine and fits with any other SoC collection.

oh, there's another benefit of going the ama route, if you're feeling lucky/risky.
their stuff ALWAYS goes on sale. sometimes it's extremely deep. and it can end up being cheaper than the japan launch price.
for example, src giant robo was almost 100 from japan but it was at its lowest on ama a week or so ago at 63 shipped prime.
in seriously considering not importing anymore for items that are not extremely hot and just rolling the dice and waiting for ama sales.

After applying amazon gift cards that I've amassed from credit card rewards points and flyer miles, voltron will only cost me $198 including tax w/ free prime shipping. I'm also planning on asking people to give me amazon gift cards for the holidays so that should help bring the price down even lower!
