I was wondering that myself last night. We're they gonna have the legs fold in when mounting bracket originally I'm curious.

I think they're staying hollow on purpose so the Black lion can sit down properly, with the legs collapsed? I do hope they provide optional covers or something.

my guessing is those hollowed legs are for better articulation

Gold oh nooooo! its like goldymarg all over again! This isn't quite that bad. The Hollowness in Goldymarg made it feel like an 80's toy. You expected it to be in a big blister pack hanging on a peg at TRU. It made the robot feel under designed. Like steps were missed. Looking at it you can see where they could have easily included hinged covers. For whatever reason they didn't it wasn't really a necessity of function or design. these look more like a deliberate functional design decision. The legs are not simply open, rather the openings have specific shaping? While not exactly aesthetically pleasing, I will likely forgive it if it's purpose is to give the robot deep articulation. Volt robs knees have always been the biggest problem with the toy designs. The nature of the transformation left them weak or with limited Range of Motion. Those gaps make me curious to see what bandai has done here?

why not used spring hinged panels like the src and not make it look so ugly? i think that was the best way to go to keep it looking nice from every angle.

It's definitely done with purpose. You can see the way the blue lion will pivot deeper into the recess because of the way it's designed..it is part of the knees functionality otherwise the knee joint would have to be exposed like on the mad toys. It's why these legs look longer because we don't have the knee joint exposed it sits deeper in the leg

why not used spring hinged panels like the src and not make it look so ugly? i think that was the best way to go to keep it looking nice from every angle. I think we will need a better look or more information before we can answer that one. Although it is probably worth noting that they don't tend to use those panels as much on transforming or combining SOC's. The SRC's have a much more solid and simple frame on which to anchor them. For SRC's the load bearing is mainly internal along the lines of what we would view as the skeleton. For the Combiners and Transforming bots the load bearing is more often than not on the outer skin. While it doesn't seem like much to us, it can change how the parts need to be made or assembled. Which could preclude being able to put those hinged panels in. When we look at a robot we tend to look at just two of the problems. Base design, and does it match the expected prototype (i.e. The dreaded anime accuracy). The designers have a few other problems to solve that we never realize. The biggest being manufacturing and production process. Putting these things together is a complex puzzle, that must be done a certain way for each one. Spring doors would be nice, unless it is a practical difficulty of getting the springs and doors mounted in the little box shaped part.

to me it's clear that bandai didn't give the gx-71 much thought. it looks good, not great, and could've been made a lot better than what has been shown up to date. but not surprised since golion is not a big deal in japan anyway.

Could it be better? Probably, but as is it's still probably the best Golion we will ever get and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

/photo/1 YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I know, I'm late. lol During my absence I have been keeping an eye out for new robot toys, and this SOC GoLion certainly caught me by surprise. During my time away I kept my blinders on to avoid impulse-buying. lol Look at that, it looks soOo Badassiest! Yaaaaaasssss! \m/ \m/ Right now I'm impressed, Bandai scored aces high on this rendition. I'm curious to know how Bandai managed to get the license to produce this fine specimen! Would like to see a photo of it standing next to the MA-01 DairuggerXV! zozo-mag

i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTEyNVgxMDg1/z/scgAAOSw0fhXlRKv/$_3.JPGOK the link above didn't warrant my time to do all the work to get it to show up immediately on the Forum ie putting it up on some pictures forum, getting the links and go to the hassle of figuring all that out when I look at it the toy Nami ultimate X the Black Edition it just shows how out of touch they are with their consumers do they know who's buying these they were trying to sell that $400 to collectors like us I am so glad BANDAI gave us a BANDAID to heel the wounds toynamai has inflicted on its customers with some of the biggest jokes played on toy collectors To offer that cheap platic .what is it its not voltron ive never seen a voltron that looked anything like that. I cant beleive people preordered or planned on getting one .for the first time ever besides the bobble head ones, I didn't want it I didn't preorder and was mad. Mad that toynami would take advantage of the collectors market knowing some of us will buy anything just because it's a voltron or a dairugger or mazinger. this has to stop and I am so glad Bandai saved some of us from losing money and gave us an option other than a licensed but cheap bootleg of our beloved childhood toy. I wish Bandai had stepped in a long time ago before the multiple reissues of the last toynami anorexictron. This bandai is exactly what I was wanting. I loved the toy more than the show and to duplicate the 80s toy almost identically but with all the dexterity of a modern soc is perfection. I didn't know what to think at first because it wasn't exactly like the older ones but it gives the same feeling of bulkiness and rigidity when looking at my 35 yr old childhood toy that still sits on my desk. And now I see the original toy. The only thing that makes them look different to me is the silver paint where there should be white paint or chrome and the black hip being silver. I hope they offer a special popy style edition box and all with firing missiles, chrome joints etc. This really is a dream come true. I have actually preorders for 3 of them. I think anyone that can get out of preorders on the toynami should do it just to send them a message. What a horrible company I feel like they have repeatedly LAUGHED at their desks at how easy we just throw out money at anything named voltron. I love you bandai. Can I come work for you? I'll do it for free you don't have to pay me ill give you my wife..please. she's hot I swear really I promise . ANYTHING for VOLTRON but it has to be Made by Bandai..
