Now the real question is can/will this live up to expectations? Bandai is going to have to blow me away with the engineering if they want me to buy another voltron so soon after KOB.

since im relaxed now, thinking about it and i thought i would never say this but Bandai is going up against a strong competitor which is the KOB, now now dont get me wrong but the KOB (if you get a QCs free unit) is very well made, alot of diecast, awesome articulation, ton of accessories and decent engineering, it can do the high kick and keep that pose alone
i know Bandai also have all of the above but i guess this is the first time they are standing up against a well made figure, for me i will get it hopefully this is just like Fewture Grendizer case for me lol
guess we will have to wait till that event and see what they will offer to top the KOB, all i hope for at the moment is same articulation as KOB or better

Hmm... -Huge, huge announcement coming in for SDCC regarding SOC. "Falling in line with characters that's huge all around the world"? I can only speculate either Voltron or Macross. Gold I guess this is it. |

Despite the set backs with QC and license issues KOB was a labor of love. Lets be fair now. The purpose of this teaser is just to get us excited and talking about it. This has been the dream of SOC fans for a long time and I think its going to be hard even for Bandai to live up to the expectations. Esp having to follow another well made figure. |

Here is what I was talking about today with a friend. It's been a long time since they made an GX-69 so this being GX-70 and a big important release. Things are usually sold at SDCC. And they are announcing that they are announcing Voltron. That's seems weird. So I think they are going to sell this at the show. Even the wording. The wait is over. We won't have to wait any longer to buy this. We are getting it at the show. Disclaimer. I may have smoked a few bowls while coming up with this theory. I could only imagine how high the aftermarket price would be if they release a small batch for attendee only. There are collectors out there that's willing to pay thousands just to have it earlier than others. You know, for bragging rights. |

Perhaps covers for the lion legs for option to match the anime look. For some collector, that seems to be important. Would be cooler if they can engineer the lions to transform and hide the legs. Just speculating on what other accessories it will come with. Rocket punch gimmick? That's got to be imcluded. Perhaps even for the feet too. Either way I'm happy to see it finally happen. |

Some collectors are disheartened by the lion legs still exposed on this formed Voltron promo pic....i get that.
And one even mentioned maybe Bandai will release SRC version that will be perfect anime accurate with no lion legs visible on arms and legs of Voltron.
For that to happen, we need to buy this SOC to bait Bandai. Want SOC Bismarck , Voltron 2 and 3? We need to buy this SOC....
Also if the power tobe has a chance, please maybe politely bring up the lion legs point on an interview to Bandai representitive at the show?
Don't get me wrong, as most of us i am shocked and beside myself inhappiness over this unreal news.
This will be, be all end all, the best voltron ever!!

Many people are disheartened by the exposed lion legs. But what I'm really concerned is if the lions have necks. For those that want an anime perfect aesthetic look, it's important that the lions need to have necks.      I don't recall any previously released Golion/Voltron toy lions ever having necks. The first will be the upcoming Ultimate Voltron EX by Toynami. If the exposed lions legs still exist, I'm fine with that. To me, a chogokin needs to scream chrome on it, so I need to see it on robot mode. But I want the lions to look more realistic as possible. I'm turned off by no-neck "hunchback" looking lions toys. If anyone can do it, it's Bandai Japan. |

the black lion is the only one with a neck the rest dont have that, for me my top priorities is articulation and to be taller than Toynami and the KOB

I find it weird that they didn't go for the SRC first to judge interest for SOC. Doesn't it make more sense to make a 50 dollar toy to judge interest for a 300+ dollar toy rather than the other way around? |
