Right on TJ! I too am collecting Bandai and other gokins because of the GX-71. It lit a fire in me that’s still burning. I started off collecting Transformers. GX-71 was my first SOC figure. I had a few TF masterpieces, but the quality of GX-71 completely blew me away. So much so that I wanted to get more SOC figures. The only problem is I'm not familiar with Japanese anime and I simply don't know any of the other characters in the line. Except for Power Rangers. But growing up, I HATED Power Rangers. Funny thing is I loved GX-71 so much that I strongly considered getting GX-72 anyway. But I was able to fight that temptation. So I want more SOC figures, but have no interest in anything else available. I'm monitoring GX-72 and may jump if I see it for a very low price. It's interesting that GX-71 was available on BBTS and would slowly increase in price until it was sold out. It's been a while and GX-72 is still $300 on BBTS.

Looking back I should have cancelled my preorder with AmiAmi for my SoC Megazord and gotten Voltron instead. The Megazord was going to be sold for less on Amazon anyways last year and I am really kicking myself over the lapse in judgement.

I seen you post this few times already. If you get KoB Icarus Voltron that should hold you down until Bandai reissues it. Crazy this SoC Voltron is actually selling $700-$850 or more...really? I thought Hulkbuster for $900 was bad but that thing is massive. SoC Voltron is great but man the chrome on Lions legs are the worst for fingerprints. If Bandai makes the lions again, hope they get rid of chrome and make all extremities of Lions all Silver. I bought that overpriced Megazord because of fear of it going up too. Then of course I see it for like $170 on Amazon and its always on ebay for way less than retail. I just let it go and move on to the next decision. I'm more selective now on my decisions. Buying some of these random robots that I have zero connection to and then end up selling it. That was rookie or newbie learning lesson on my part.

If SOC decides to make a Titanus, both of the previous figures will skyrocket in price.

If you have the time, watch some of the anime. Many of them are dated for sure, but there is some charm to that 70's 80's nostalgia. Or try newer anime for King of Braves GaoGaiGar, Super Beast Machine God Dancouga, or even Big-O. All had SOC releases that are still easy to find at decent prices. If you are looking for other excellent gokin toys, check out Macross or Gundam anime. Both the DX Chogokin and Metal Build lines have incredible toys as well. Of course doing any of this will endanger your bank account, so proceed at your own risk.

You don’t necesarily need to intimately know the show to appreciate the SOC offerings. If you like Voltron and MP Transformers here are a few that might interest you. - Megazord. Yeah you might dislike Power Rangers. But the robot is really from the Japanese a Super Sendai footage. And it is a nice chunky combiner. - Baikanfu. If you are an old school Transformers fan then you likely crossed paths with Gobots/Machine a Robo. Baikanfu is from there. The SOC was recently re-released so can be found easily. It is an older figure that’s a bit dated. But still nice. - Dancouga. Another from the era of transforming animal robots. An older design, but re-released last year. Design wise it sits somewhat between the Voltron aesthetic and Gundam. - God Sigma. Could be a cousin to Voltron and the Megazord. Gorgeous robot. Huge! Was just announced as the next re-release. - Daltanious. The robot that was supposed to be Voltron. If you get nothing else on this list, consider getting Daltanious. It is like nothing else on your shelf and is one of the finest transforming robots ever made. - GaoGaiGar. The Brave series was a Japanese follow up to Transformers. Sort of playing with some similar themes and ideas. GGG is the main robot. One of the best transformer/combiners ever made.

I've noticed this - I was planning on selling my Megazord as I need to have some cash however I have seen the price has skyrocketed and I believe you are right - this is mostly due to Dragonzord release. Sold my SOC GGG, one of the best piece I ever had however I'm confident that Bandai will release a Genesic GGG but I know its ages away...... since most likely they will release Gaofighar first. Metal build is an awesome line! The detail, articulation - but man, also an expensive line! I'm looking at the bandai 1/48 VF-1J, what an expensive fun hobby

I actually prefer the chrome as a toy of Voltron feels a bit "wrong" without it. Maybe it is just me and how I would have loved some more metallic diecast or chrome on more of my 90s toys.

Well it kinda all started around 4 months ago. I wanted a nice poster sized high res image of Voltron that I could hang over my display case, but after much searching I came to the realization that ether no one has ever made any or they just don't exist. Which was a disappointment. Knowing myself, on how I can't just let things go, I dove into learning 3D Max, Blender, Photoshop. Before this I only had the basic experience in Photoshop, and I didn't know if I could even make my idea, but like Len (Lego Voltron), you can't let that stop you.
So I started with a phone image as a template, took it step by step with much trial and error. I kept experimenting and learning, but over time, I improved, and found my image rhythm. So in the end i'm proud it exist now, where it didn't exist before. One of a kind now, but that could change, if anyone else is interested in having their own made.
The Acrylic was done by Artbeats Studios. The dimensions is 38x20. The price was about $250 with a 30% discount special they were having. Normal price for this size is $330. They also do metal prints which are very nice, and depending on which size you want your image, they cost much less.

The SOC is the only Voltron I own but if I was someone with enough versions to fill a detolf, that print would be such an awesome backer for the case. Looks great!
