I'm about four episodes into this so far. Great quality considering how old this is. Seems much darker and more violent than the Force Five edits I watched as a kid.

Is Dino Mech a translation of Daiku Maryu? I thought it meant Mechanical Dragon, but what do I know? Just curious.

Daiku Maryu literally means Space Demonic Dragon. Similar to Mazinger Z often refered as Majin, "devil", they share the same 'Ma'. Even though there is no evil per se depicted as the nature of the Dragon or the show. Japanese simply like naming something evil or demonic to sound cool.

Makes sense. To their adversaries, the super-robots were The Worst Nightmares.
Hence the 'demonic' or 'monstrous' parallel identity to the heroic essence of
the super-robots.
The reference becomes more obvious in the Shin Mazinger series.
