So it's shipped... really can't wait. Ordered three. Looking to put together something similar to my Dancougar shrine. Long live Obari.

Will sentinels version measure up with these previous Baikanfu releases? Despite the SD proportion, I feel the ES gokin is the most faithful to the original design. Also, heads off to Lejam. He designed my avatar of Kenryu SD style and the result was just as good as Fewture's rendition of SD Kenryu!

It's already proven to be the best iteration as a toy and it isn't even here yet.

It may be the best but until I have it in my hands to me it's still an unknown. Pictures and videos only tell so much. The materials, the paint, the tightness, sturdiness, the fit, and the overall handling experience cannot be conveyed. At least not to me.
So far all I know is sculpt and to a lesser degree articulation. I don't place much weight in the later, but the sculpt is good, but not faithful. So to me it's far from proven.
Good thing is I will find out soon enough.

K. For me personally, articulation as huge because as a photographer and even someone who likes to display his toys like not-crap, it gives a lot more options. What doesn't matter to me as much is weight. If it were feather-feeling I'd be bugged, but as long as it's generally solid, I'm ok; it's not what I buy Sentinel stuff for. Maybe I'm doing a bit much educated guessing but even from pictures you see a nice, clean finish with a smooth, gloss coat (indicating a piece smooth to the touch.) The sculpt is what it is and people either like it or don't. In terms of handling, however; everyone's just different so it's always subjective.
It's blatant that you're "hyping" the fact that you're getting the piece (which is fine, and I'm glad you're excited) but there's quite a bit that can be conveyed about a piece visually, particularly if you have some previous items in a given line to draw reference from.
----------------------------------------
Anyways, a friend of mine who'd gotten this in Hong Kong had the following feedback:
- Potential for paint flaking/cracking. - Even though it's a solidly built figure, some of the joint areas on Baikanfu are thin so it's definitely not made to be manhandled and the like. - People have said that it's "light" but he as another person who owns a lot of Sentinel products said that it's pretty par for the course in terms of how their items generally feel.

I love how different people could be, even when it comes to toys. We are probably on different ends of the spectrum which is why our opinions often differ, which is a good thing.
I agree one can tell whether the paint is smooth or not but what one can't tell is the quality of the paint. Some color never show up accurate on screen too. Also, like you pointed out your friend said it has the potential to flake. Hopefully it won't!
Im just excited over a Baikanfu release, and was hoping to initiate more conversations on it. I look forward to hearing everyone's reaction. Unfortunately you and I seem to be the only ones talking about it on RJ. Lol.

Again; the quality of the paint will be fine. Have you ever had a Sentinel release to where it felt rough or hand-painted? Why would the company get more shoddy now that it's grown and has better resources? It's just using sense. And with the paint cracking, he likened it to the Re: Edit Bleeding Edge to where you see discrepancies but it's under the finish so you can't actually feel it. And in terms of some colors not showing up accurately in pictures and the like; that's just a myth - People always say that crap and then you get it in hand and it looks just like any pictures of a certain grade and up. People will say anything to make things they get sound oh-so-incredible and make people who don't own feel like they're missing out on anything possible. It's a sad trend that really needs to stop because it's disingenuous at best and narcissistic at most.
Between this, Dancouga, Mazinkaiser, the Getters, Gurren Lagann, Orgun, Oubu, Gaiking, and even the Gorgs, Sentinel has really given collectors a Super Robot collection that no other company has and I can't wait to do a group picture.

Considering my friend broke his, I'm actually a bit anxious. Probably going to give it a few days to jusr mess asround with before even getting started and I'll knock it all out over the weekend for Monday.

It will help other folks more when you highlight those fragile areas in your review than having the review up a couple days early.

Got mine today and here are my thoughts: # Sculpture wise, it's awesome. One of the reasons why I choose this over Bandai's version is because it looks and feels like Baikanfu. Can't get any better. # The combination sequence is good. You don't need to take out KenRyu or Baikanfu's arms (like shown in the demo video by Sentinel) to fit them inside. You don't even need to remove KenRyu's fist to fit inside Baikanfu either. There are some soft sponge's on the legs and arms to avoid scratches of some sort. Oh and one more thing, you do need to take out the shoulder 'pads' on KenRyu's shoulder to fit inside Baikanfu. Other then that, that's the only thing you need to remove in the whole combination sequence. # Maneuver wise, for a mecha like BaiKanfu, it's great. Not the best, but great. Same goes for Kenryu and Rom. # Most of the open areas you see in the GX-39/R are concealed smartly in this one. Another reason why I shoved my money down Sentinel's throat * If you are thinking or hoping to get something heavy like an SOC, you will be disappointed. Mostly plastic, very few die-cast. (Joints for all 3 are die-cast, Baikanfu has the most of it) I don't think KenRyu and Rom have any die-cast. (except for the joint areas) * IMO, Sentinel definitely tagged the price too high. The product is great, but not at that price range. * Some places they could have added die-cast, not sure why they didn't - might have their reasons as to it. I'll leave it to the pro's to review it. ## FYI, if any of you plan to play them excessively, go easy with KenRyu. His leg joints, it doesn't look like it is capable of handling any major torture. Both of his legs can come off too. You have been warned! Overall, there is no regret for me in choosing this over the GX-39R despite being a lighter weight. Yes, the GX-39/R comes with Leina, mountain, and a mask open face of Rom - plus many die-cast making it feel like a heavyweight, but design wise and mobility, I feel Sentinel's Baikanfu excels over the GX-39/R. Of course, I think Sentinel could have done better, but nothing is perfect and I am grateful they went ahead and did a Baikanfu for me to select from. This is just my personal opinion. This is by no means any in-depth review, just my point-of-view on this product that I kind a dig. Pictures to share: (Excuse me for the quality if that bothers you ) Hope you guys get yours soon!

Very good size. Was expecting it to be smaller. There are some aspects of this better than the SOC for sure. Just not enough to get me double dip to get a 2nd Baikanfu. Interesting that Sentinel kept most of their robot stuff pretty light in weight. But their 12 inch Ultraman is actually pretty heavy, even though very little diecast was used. Maybe there was some strategy put into them.

Thanks zankantou for sharing! He looks great! Especially Baikanfu. Great to know that it's not a "parts former". He's huge too! That would put it an inch taller than GX-39 I think.

Maybe there was some strategy put into them. A lot of it is the amount of engineering involved. Tons of small pieces involved to give the mecha products the more extreme articulation where I think UltraMan is more plain in that respect. Their best mix of both worlds is definitely Giant Gorg which was designed by T-Rex who also did their weighty Sahelanthropus from MSG.
