The price is not what makes it garbage IMO... its the non articulated cannons, crappy head articulation, hands that suck at holding the shield, forearms that dont lock (WTF!!!), crappy leg connections, lack of unperfect transformation options (removable tail, smaller chest piece, extra hands). This is all my opinion so dont flame me im still keeping it but its one of the most disappointing SOC releases ive ever bought. I see, I've never owned a Chogokin so I'm not sure what the rest of you were expecting as long time collectors. I respect that .

I still like mine, but its really only a step up from the Legacy in terms of articulation and deco. For the SOC name and price, it should have been perfect and its not and that's really where a lot of the bad taste comes from. I would say the SOC is more than 1 step above the legacy megazord. The legacy megazord only has rotation at the shoulders and hips. Furthermore, the legacy megazord requires like 80% stickers to look good. I presume if a collector has owned multiple sentai toys in their life you can truly appreciate this piece for finally giving us a large scaled combining diecast megazord with articulation from head to toe. Legacy zords frustrate me to no end. For example, the legacy ninja megazord has full articulation from the waist down, but basically nothing from the waist up. The head on the ninja megazord can look up, but not side to side. The white tigerzord has knee joints, but no hip, ankle or any other articulation from the waist down. For me, megazord toys over the years have only gone 1/2 way to 2/3 of the way there to making a modern all around good figure, but the SOC has finally made it all the way there. Granted the SOC stumbles on it's way to the finish line, it still made it. Is the SOC perfect, no, but if this is the first step for Bandai to go into the direction of making high end sentai pieces, I would say it's a fantastic step in the right way. If Bandai has more sentai designs planned, I hope they can continue to refine and improve their engineering of these blocky and iconic designs. And maybe hiring PLEX to design the SOC was a mistake, because this design team has only been designing megazords with little to no articulation. I guess it's a matter of values. There is absolutely no comparisons with the legacy line, the legacy zords look like Half baked plastic lumps, for instance with no articulation. I respect the dissenting opinions thanks for sharing. To be honest I still don't see why it's enough to regret buying the thing. Even with all the lack of accessories and articulation woes this piece is beautiful. But even that is a matter of taste. I would also add that power rangers doesn't have as many fans as voltron so people are willing to overlook flaws with voltron. That's another element to consider. Taurus I understand your situation totally, I would be mad if I paid that much for it honestly But as long as you like it it's what counts.

I had every DX zord/mecha from MMPR S1 through Zeo up until a few years ago, and honestly I like the general look of the DX Megazord better, and while the articulation is better it's almost an unfair comparison because The DX zords are literally a step above Popy. They're pretty much vintage-styled pieces with more streamlined/modernized sculpts. It honestly adds charm to them because they do an excellent job of what they're going for. anubis20 really nailed the low points of this thing, and overall it just doesn't give me that high-end, SOC "feel" that I get when opening up even older SOCs. I think it's a damned good Megazord toy, but a fairly poor attempt at a collectible of this caliber.

That's two of us lol. It's cool if people are disappointed with this thing, hell there are things I don't like about it. But I don't think you need to be a pr fan to appreciate some things like the articulation, design and pair apps. Maybe I'm wrong, who's knows but I didn't expect reactions of complete disgust by it. If I had money I'd buy all the unwanted megazord sand set up a charity for them hahahha. But what kills me is that if they do release a SOC dragonzord, the megazord price will go wayyy up. It's a reality we have to face the tommy fan base talks with green, and by I mean cash. Oh well, I'd love to see a SOC dragon shiza but if not, I'm satisfied with this piece. me 3 lol i know the figure have some problems, hmmm lets not say problems, lets say lacking some stuff, you guys mentioned most of it but over all i like it, best Daizujin ever made, maybe later Bandai will do an R version lol

When I post pics of the GX-72 on social media, a typical MMPR fan's response is, "I wish I could have that" or "Someday...". I think this piece's legend will grow over time in the Power Rangers community. It's so much better than any other Megazord. I'm very grateful to have such a thing.

There's no denying that, as far as Daizyujin goes, this is THE king of the mountain. But it SHOULD have been better for the name and price as a premium collectible.

Unfortunately, it tried to climb to the top of the SOC mountain but both GaoGaiGar and Voltron were on top going "B*tch, don't even try."

I wonder if there was a lot to learn from for both Gaogaigar and Voltron. The CM's Gaogaigar may have layed some groundwork for improvement for the SoC Gaogaigar and the same with Toynami's 1st Voltron and Madtoys Voltron to gauge what they can add not only in engineering but with accessories.

I sold mine within 72 hours of getting it. I love the robot design but I found the SOC terrible. I still think the original is the best release.

It's a nice piece, and far from the worst of the line (have we forgotten Kotetsujin Jeeg already? Goldymarg? Ok probably better forgotten.) It really suffers horribly from being released immediately after what is arguably the finest SOC yet released, the GX-71 Voltron. What makes it worth is the Megazord is so easily directly comparable to GX-71, both in price and design elements. It's the best Megazord yet created. But it is hard to hold one of GX-71's lion bots in your hand, then look at the Saber Tooth Tiger Zord and not ask "Why the hell didn't you just do this with bigger fangs!?!?!" The design differences between the two robots Cat components is just so stark, when you can't help but think they should be near identical. And it is a lot of little things like that. Really the biggest complaint with GX-72 is it feels like a step down for the price point when compared to its immediate predecessor. Voltron set the standard for what we expect at $300 USD. Megazord didn't quite hit it.

Faelon thanks for your points, that makes sense. I don't own voltron but I was watching videos of the articulation and I can see where it appear sturdier than gx-72,mostly in the leg and feet articulation. However, I don't see where you can say the megazord is trash, but I suppose different strokes and all that. As Saud said, maybe they'll do an R version π

It's not trash. And it is a fine SOC. It's just about $40 overpriced for what it delivered. At ~$260, in line with bots Like GaoGaiGar, it would have been very well received. At $300+ We expected a bit more in the way of finishing touches.

Megazord didn't quite hit it. I agree with these points. Voltron was my first SOC figure and that set the bar really HIGH for me when I got the Megazord. Like others have said, when I look at the Voltron lions and I look at the sabertooth tiger I go why couldn't you have done this with the zords? The T Rex is fantastic I'll give them that but the others are lacking. The megazord is also quite a bit smaller than Voltron which I don't get, for the price they should be close to identical. Also the lack of locking forearms really bothers me, his hands swing in towards the torso if I try to do anything dynamic or even pick him up. Also only a swivel for the neck also seems like a joke when Voltron has more articulation in his neck than I have ever seen so I expected that in the Megazord, I thought it was just common for SOC's to have that level of articulation. Even with the disappointments I still love the Megazord and I'm keeping mine, I'm cool with museum poses and it's the best Megazord figure made so far and if SOC does a Dragonzord I'll probably pick that up too.

Yeah be careful using Voltron as your comparison point to the other SOC's. Among other things GX-71 is arguably the largest of the SOC's. The only others that come anywhere close are Ideon which is about the same, Gos Sigma which is a hair smaller and IronGear which is also up there in robot mode. Megazord is about on par for most of the larger SOC's in size. About the same height as GaoGaiGar or God Mars etc. The SOC's are by and large the base standard for quality robots. But Voltron is the extreme high point. There really are no bad SOC's (save perhaps Kotetsujin Jeeg...) They are largely the best representations of a given character in toy form.

Not Jeeg bad, but down there. They look amazing and are quite solid, but are tiny, have very little articulation (I'll forgive this on Trombe because he turns into a horse, but Daizenger should be more Dynamic), and are more or less pointy bricks. Kinda makes me nervous for any potential SOC SRX that doesn't have a lot of extra swappable parts because that guy's combination cheats a lot.
