Got one in at Nippon-Yasan. HLJ still has it in stock. How is Nippon-Yasan's return policy? Are the good to order from? Because it's a pricey item, I just want to know I'll be okay if there's a defect and I need to return/exchange it for a new one.

They are in my top 5-6 vendors that I use to purchase from Japan. Mind you, I've never had to exchange any toys to-date. So, I would not know much about that. You'd have to read their exchange policy on their website.

I do have a mixed feelings about so much unpainted surfaces.
I like to think the paint effort and budget went to other areas like material and joint engineering. I also like the fact that its saving the environment. Oh and zero worries about paint chipping lol.
However, i wish it was painted bit. especially the pale off white areas....it looks bit boring?

Totally missed out on this as I don't follow the Hi-Metal R line. Found one at cdjapan though. Love to have a nice Dougram and the Revoltech one just didn't quite cut it for me. This one looks very good. A bit pricey though.

welp! Got some new stuff delivered today, so here's the first quickie. The new HiMetal R Dougram (aka Shadow Hawk from Battletech) from Bandai! Scaled here with the recent 1/72 kits: imgur.com/BUK4rtBScaled here with the HiMetal-R GPB-1J Armored Valkyrie (aka Crusader): imgur.com/i0oY70KThis HMR Dougram is really damn impressive! Quite hefty and the metal innards makes it nicely heavy! Don't have a weight scale, but felt heavier than the GBP-1J.. So rockin' jawesome!!!

Nice, i saw some Youtube on it and it has some awesome sliding and folding joints and such.
The engineering seems to be a great mixture of SRC and A.N.I.M.E.! Which are premier brands in Bandai...though HMR isnt too shabby of a branding either.

Just got mine. Thoroughly impressed. Plastic finish is like a satin more than a matte. Gives the whole toy a very smooth anime look, with the real world paint markings. The markings are incredibly well done and don't stick out like water slide decals on a model kit would.
Footpads are diecast like the original takara dual models (I have them all). The figure has good heft. Not as much as the originals, but the weight is nicely distributed so that it is not too top heavy or bottom heavy.
There are hidden movements and many (at least 2-3 by my count) hidden arm movements. You'll be surprised. To do the sitting pose you have to extend a lot of joints and use a special set of hands.
The pegs for changing hands are super sturdy and movement for the whole figure is super smooth. Everything pegs in tight without getting stuck.
The only pieces that I think feel cheap are the two Crinn figures - tiny but even at this size I thought they would be just slightly better with paint apps and the rocket launcher attaches to the head instead of the shoulder. Also, because that one piece is large, it looks cheap in that red plastic. Everywhere else the red plastic is on the toy looks fine because it blends well.
Also on the tilting cockpit glass, look very carefully at the instructions - you actually pull the cockpit out slightly and then tilt it forward very gently.
There are a lot of fragile areas/parts on this toy and the instructions make sure to tell you about it.
I buy very few modern toys and this is my first hi-metal r purchase. I am extremely happy. If they make a whole dougram line I am buying them all.
