Hi guys I got mine few days ago and heres MY take on the RoundFacer
Pros Heavy with usual HMR metal placement. Feet and most of the major joints (the hell was Bandai thinking with MB Qant...) Absolutely beautiful box art. No Styro. Many many joints, many many countless point of articulations. Perfect sculpt with a perfect proportion. Feels very sturdy . Made with a high quality ABS. Spring loaded Collapsable chest?!? To accomodate cross arm pose. He looks great on display and to me his shade of green looks like the last set of pics. He is about half inch bigger then Dougram. And Everything is completely new mold on Roundfacer...i dont see any shared part between the two.
Cons Collapsable chest is not perfectly centered on mine. can't notice on display, but when youre trying to pose him you will see it. Also its fragile enough to be a concern not to hold him by the chest when you are trying to ab crunch him... His shoulder hinges (the forward movement points) are stupid tight...as in id be stupid to try to move them without aid of mineral oil.
And what is up with rear skirt only one not being hinged? Someone please explain this phenom for me... Bandai makes front and side skirt movable to accomodate leg movement but not rear skirt part...whats up with that? And Bandai does this to majority of thier robot action figures with skirt. i mean...what is it? The enquiring minds want to know.
The grey gun doesn't want to stay on too well.... The forarm armor piece is not on a hinge but pegs, so no articulation there but you can remove them? The only painted parts are metal feet and his visor...oh and his tiny pilot is also painted. The rest of mech is just colored plastic. His shade of green still should be darker. Now The price.....in an ideal nice universe this should be at most, $90 before shipping. This is considering smaller Destroid HMR as a reference. Speaking of which, why is this guy exclusive?!?
Despite the numerable cons and rather steep price, if you can see one around $130 (sigh) i still recommend him. I mean, Look at what ET charges for thier stuff and now look at this robot at $130... Yeah, this HMR RoundFacer all of a sudden looks like a bargain.
Come with the Votom HMR Bandai, you know we want it. Almost forgot, he has couple of peg holes on his back. Could they be for his "wings" i see on the box art? Then when, where and how is the "wing" going to be sold?!

Soltic had many variants and upgrades which will probably be more exclusives (just my guess). There is the blue H8-RF Korchima Special which has a backpack and arm mounted cannon connected by a power hose and also the soltic hang glider which will be a must buy for me.
If you look back at a lot of the original takara model kits in 1/72 or larger, you'll see a lot of the different weapon/mech upgrades for Dougram and soltic like korchima, hang glider, JAKT launcher and dual backpack cannons.

Good ole Bandai. Those who missed this issue dont fret. Cause Knowing Bandai, You'll get even better iteration with all the fixin in a year or two.

Here's a link with pics of the MaxFactory kit version of the "Kolchima Special" Roundfacer. The gimmick is that it has an arm mounted linear cannon like the Dougram. www.goodsmile.info/en/product/4647/COMBAT+ARMORS+MAX+04+1+72nd+Scale+Soltic+H8+RF+Korchima+Special.html My Roundfacer arrived just a few hours ago. (SAL, on a Sunday, on Christmas Eve . . . thank the shipping gods! And thank USPS!) It's excellent. Oh man, is it ever excellent. I actually think the price on these Dougram HMRs is justified. These things have a really high parts count because of the way the armor and the joints work. Way more parts than destroid HMRs. More than the DC SOCs as well. Lots of assembly required. These things could easily be crap if assembled at a lackluster factory. Given the time it would take for me to make a kit look this good, and the use of ABS and zinc that you don't get in a kit, I'm kinda amazed we're getting such great Dougram toys at all. My thanks goes out to the workers who clip and snap and glue and paint and print and screw these together. Making it an exclusive, however, sucks donkey balls. I hope these are selling enough to warrant more Dougram bots. My need for a Bushman and an Ironfoot rival my needs for water and air. Especially in this line. The design philosophy they're using for the joints and proportions are on point; a beautiful balance between realism, utility, and line-art accuracy. Better even than the MF kits.

Glad you got your copy. It IS a very nice piece.
I want a Mackeral myself. I used to have a small diecast one. The design of Mackeral is so charming and endearing to me. Its so goofy cool....but so ugly id be pleasently surprised if Bandai make HMR out of it.

Ooooh. Yes! I totally want a Mackeral too. After the Ironfoot and Bushman, it's the one I want most. Definitely charming and goofy-cool.
Plus, I've got a weakness for amphibious bots that look like people in diving gear.

Awesome. I've got a pre-order in for this. Thinking about trying some sort of sea green/dark green camo that resembles columns of seaweed. I hope HMR Makeral is not too far behind.... This. +1. x1000. According to this article, Mackeral actually IS a high demand character from Dougram series. That's interesting. I'd like to believe that, but MF released at least half a dozen unique molds before getting around to it. High demand is relative, I guess. I dunno. I'm hoping we'll get some info about a new Dougram HMR by the time the Dougram is re-released in late February.

Have to say, HMR Dougram is exceptional. It's such a well made toy. The plastic feels good. The weight is good. Hand feel is just amazing. Love all the little details like the opening cockpit, removing the head to facilitate cockpit access, making Crinn stand up in the cockpit, and the amazing hip joint/hinge mechanism that allows Dougram to sit. I would really love it of they made the Bromry flatbed transport. If HMR ever made it, I would buy a 2nd Dougram to lay on it.

I love to weigh my bots, just like Gold. Only reason I have a food scale.
HMR Xanbungle: 1/100 scale. 17.8cm (just under 7"). Base fig, 225g. Fully armed, 271g. HMR Dougram: 1/60 scale. 16cm (6.25") at top of head. 200g fully armed.

Having that would be a great addition.

Come on Bandai...
Please make a seperate line for diecast anime vehicles. Make it Tamashii web exclusive if you have to, but Macross, Votoms, Dougram and Gundam support vehicles must be made....in DIECAST!

So I finally got a Soltic to go with my Dougram. Came in yesterday, I'm mixed. The Spring chest joint is weird. I didn't know it had this, I'm talking about the part where the front sides of the chest collapse inward under pressure. Painted feet and leg sculpt looks very good. Just a bit of my yellow stripes have some imperfections?
Helmet is a slightly different shape than what I expected, I expected a round but more slender head. Mine has some flashing that I will need to shave, especially on the skirt pieces - which I am surprised about. They're in a tough enough spot that I have to take part of him apart to clean it up, so I don't damage any other areas of the toy when I trim it.
They did a good job with this pilot, he looks better than the painting on Crinn. I have to dig my Dougram out of storage to do a side by side comparison. One thing I definitely don't like is how the rocket launcher attaches to the side of the head and not the shoulder. It seems like an afterthought and it is odd.
Also on both Dougram and soltic I really don't like the type of plastic or the color they used for the rocket launcher. I feel they either should have been painted matte red or been made in a different type/color of plastic. It looks too washed out and cheap. Honestly it would have been great if this one piece was diecast.
Lastly, the guns - the plastic here looks a little off - not as bad as the rocket launcher looks, but I thought the guns would stand out a bit more.
Until I get them side by side, I'll say for now that upon first impression that the Dougram was still done better.
Did anyone else have the same concerns/issues? Anyone else care to share their thoughts?

I have Dougram but didn't get the Soltic, just wasn't high enough on my list with all the other things coming soon. I felt the HMR Dougram was a really great modern-updated toy, and surprised Bandai even decided to make a enemy mech for the series.
