Thought i'd better join this uber elite group. Im from UK, had micronauts and cyborg as a kid, missed muton but my cousin got him and the 3 outfits for xmas from my mum!!!!!! As you can imagine that has always stayed with me. I am now the owner of reissue dokuroking and can finally talk to my cousin without wanting to strangle him!! Over the past five years ive been collecting reissue microman, vintage and a few reissue micronauts, reissue gen 1 TF's and now henshin reissues wich at the moment consists of just KW jr yellow and aforesaid dokuroking. The reissue is a bit loose but overall I am not complaining, to own a 'giant muton' is just to damn awesome, I also really like the soft brain.
Best toy memories from the 70's.......seeing a huge basket in a toyshop just brimming with mutons and seeing Giant Aroyear in clearance shop piled high at £2.99 each!!
Worst toy memories, hmm, looking for micronaut aliens, acroyears and space gliders and of course never finding them!!

Welcome, Cyborgbushcricket! I, too am a UK based Cybo-enthusiast and there aren't enough of us. I collect Micronauts too, but Cyborg is the big obsession. Please view my collection on the collection board, and also my two silly photo stories on this board. Post about Cyborgs as often as possible. Rant about them in such a fashion as would bore normal human beings beyond endurance. Post pictures of your collection. Please. Hypno

Hi all, thanks for making me welcome, wow hypnotator, thats some collection, lots of cyborgs, walders old and new, my cyborg collection is limited to reissue dokuroking, yellow walder jr and king walder II general, this is soon to expand by adding other walder kaijin sets and uncostumed cyborgs (hopefully with arm weapons). My micronauts/man/reissue TF is a fuller set , my collection overall is modest and consists of around 100 toys. The only rareish pieces i have are boxed amazon acroyear, takara version dash wing (ie space glider), takara version giant acroyear boxed, and not so rare but fun micronauts series 2 aliens. Its a great time to be into diaclones (ok gen 1 TFs), nauts and cyborg, all these reisssues are what we've dreamed of for years. My favourite pieces ever, hmm, changes around a bit but includes original giant acroyear, acroyear 1 and 2, now dokuroking, TF ultra mangus (dont know why), I could go on.............

Hi, thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself too. I've been reading stuff here for a bit and particularly enjoyed your stories, Hypnotator! Do you ever read Toyfare? I'm another UK collector. Very limited display-space-wise, somewhere I have the three Denys Fisher figures and the Cybo-Invader ship as well as a few Micronaut toys from when I was young. I've been buying occasional Cyborg and Microman resissues by Takara and Palisades, and have come to realise that I collect loose transparent action figures. I wonder if that's a bit odd because people tend to collect series and not random figures from various ranges! Am meaning to do a web page on transparent figures some time, but all I have at the moment is a text list. Hypnotator, where is the board with your collection on? Is it in the Toy Vault forum? Jason

Jason, I’m delighted to welcome another Cyborg enthusiast. As I said to the Bush Cricket, please rant interminably about Cyborg in a way that would stultify any normal acquaintance. I’m glad you enjoyed the stories; they were great fun to do but my puny ego needs appreciative posts to fuel the creative furnace and keep the lethargy at bay. Is Toyfare the mag with the “Twisted Mego Theatre” stories? I read a few copies that belonged to a friend and enjoyed them immensely. If you want to surf on YJ, you need the links! This one came from Rednecktex, who is a US based collector with many Japanese Henshin Cyborg figures, a nice fellow and regular on this board. It is a general Henshin Cyborg link. search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search?sb=desc&desc=%ca%d1%bf%c8%a5%b5%a5%a4%a5%dc%a1%bc%a5%b0&acc=jp&apg=1&f=0x62&s1=end&o1=a&at=true&alocale=0jpthis is a more specific link for Dokuro King (aka Skeleton King aka Torg) only: search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search?sb=desc&desc=%a5%c9%a5%af%a5%ed%a5%ad%a5%f3%a5%b0&auccat=0&acc=jp&f=0x12&alocale=0jp&mode=1My collection is on the Toy Vault board, but here is a link to save you trawling: robotjapan.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=GenGallery&action=display&thread=1088662862Post an appreciative (or derogatory) comment and it’ll jump right back to the top of the board, where others will notice it! You mention transparent figures in general. There is a thread somewhere here on the HC board called “The clear GI Joes are great” which goes into this. Bushcricket, thanks for appreciating my collection. I have to say I’m jealous of your Acroyear Amazon; what colour is he? I understand there is some kind of magnet and ball bearing feature in his chest, what does it do? Your dashwing, is he the blue one? I have two Space Gliders; it is the blue one I lack. I bid for a Takara one a couple of months back on Ebay (it was in the UK, priced in GBP). I’m excited about the new reissues too. This guy is selling them in the UK: www.childhoodtoys.co.ukI got my Dokuro King from him. A few years ago I would never have believed there would be all these new Cyborgs to collect. It’s like one of my toy-obsessed dreams. Hypno

Ah, thanks Hypno (if I may)! Yes, I did mean the stuff that Toyfare does with Megos. Very occasionally a Micronaut or Davros figure creeps in, but it's mostly US-oriented. Have you seen Super 7 Magazine? There's great photography of Japanese toys in there - a much more serious production, though. There's often something on Micronauts, but I only have two issues. I've also found Tripitaka/Childhood toys but not bought anything yet. I usually buy from eBay but am very tempted at these new Walder reissues, as I say! Your collection is very impressive - I will have another look when I've more time to appreciate it! Funny that you too have a few Star Wars figures thrown in, and the same ones as me at that - hmm, I think my collection is a small subset of yours. I even have that transparent Jeeg... I also saw the piece on clear GI Joes - someone there (you?) reminded me of the existence of those transparent Fisher Price Adventure people, so I'm looking for those too now! What's an Acroyear Amazon? I don't know that one. And, ultimately from the YJ link you sent me, who's this guy? There was another one like him on another auction, too. page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b52183844Jason

By all means, call me Hypno or Hippy. My full handle is rather long to type. The Twisted Mego strips that I saw didn’t feature any Micronauts, unfortunately, but I did see one with Action Force Destro, who has special memories for me. Which Davros did they use, the cruddy Dapol one? Those Dapols are the pits.
I have never seen Super 7, but I was aware that they did an article on UK Cyborg. I wanted to buy it, but ultimately funds are such that I have to give toys preference over magazines about them.
I’m glad I preordered my Dokuro from Tripitaka as I haven’t seen any on Ebay yet. He will be getting the green and red Walders and the silver and gold HCs, which I think will be more commonplace, but a chance to order them within the UK is too convenient to pass up. I just wish I could afford to bid for a Warp Magazine exclusive Dokuro on YJ.
I’m not a big Star Wars fan, although I was when I was 11 and the first one came out. I only collect the cool aliens and droids, and only when they’re cheap.
I’d like the black Geeg, the red Force Commander and all the Micronaut Emperor variations to complete my lineup, if only I were richer.
You’ve never seen Acroyear Amazon? There were three vintage Takara Acroyears which never got done by Mego (or Airfix); President, Amazon and New. New was the only one with metal parts, and I’m lucky enough to own one, but Amazon is the coolest, with a transparent head that resembles the aliens in “Invasion of the Saucer Men”. I recommend Paul L’s site, microforever.com, if you don’t know it. It has the most exhaustive lists, pictures and reviews and is a truly indispensable site for folk like us. Paul posts very occasionally on this board.
I’ve no idea what that thing is on the link you posted. I think it’s a costume only, though. There are lots of HC tribute, non-Takara toys on YJ. Medicom make some. The YJ link can be frustrating sometimes, when you see something and want to know more about it. I recommend the altavista.com online translator. You can paste in Japanese text direct from the YJ listing, press a button, and you get some barely decipherable waffle that you can maybe glean a little sense from. There is a Microman sized Satan King costume that I long to know more about. Can anyone reading this elucidate on him?

Yeah, it was a Dapol Davros, sorry. I actually think the Sea Devil and Melkur figures are quite nice - Melkur is quite stone-like! Their Daleks are particularly cheap-looking, it's true. Toyfare had a small piece on Micronauts last issue, actually. Searching on Google gave me an Innerspace Online page for Amazon Acroyear - yes, I want one! www.innerspaceonline.com/micromanacros.htmI'm well-acquainted with microforever.com, oh yes! I see you like having all the colours. One item I early on failed to "win" on eBay was a set of non-articulated acroyear knock-offs in unusual colours (I think one was pink). I've also missed out on coloured chrome acroyears (a limited set) - you've probably seen those. I also really want the reissue Emperor myself - specifically the greeny-yellow one. Ah, once I missed out on a quite cheap buy-it-now red 90s Takara Walder... Thanks for the YJ tip - I hadn't thought about translating that way! Jason

WOW, ive never seen the yahoo jp cyborg pages only the microman one which also have cyborg from time to time, Im more amazed that there is a specific dokuroking category!!
Hypnotator, my amazon is blue, and its amazing or should that be amazoning!! The head is just too cool and reminds me of a flies hed just as they are emerging from a pupa, ive actually seen this and the head enlarges and pulsates alarmingly, seeing is believing, truly alien. Actually it looks like the new acrobiom from new takara masterforce microman is an update on amazon with big blue head, a set of cutter weapons and long clear tail even if not quite a long clear spear. as for the dash wing, its the blue one, I love the mego versions but the takara version has a slightly better finish and better proportioned head. IM getting all cyborged up now, i almost was ready to sell my KW II a while back but on the strength of the new reissues i'd now like to grab 'magma' also. Its amazing how rare they seem, ive only seen king walder II on ebay a couple of times, im almost kicking myself for selling my plant monster KW jr to a rather famous person!!

In my opinion, Jason, the best of the Dapols were the two Silurians. I almost considered buying them but they were just a bit too cheaply done. Melkur dates from a period of DW that had lost its appeal for me. I remember the “Master” inside with skeleton teeth painted on his lips! It worked until he spoke.
Thanks for the link to Innerspace. It’s a while since I visited this site and it appears they’ve updated it considerably. I’ll have a proper look around soon. The picture of Amazon’s head is the clearest I’ve seen yet. CBC, your comparison of Amazon with Biom is very interesting and hadn’t occurred to me. I thought Biom was a bit like Giger’s Alien and Voltech like the Predator. There are clearly lots of influences in the beautifully designed Microforce series.
I have read that the green Emperor is prone to fracture at the knees; it doesn’t surprise me as the quality of transparent plastic on the Pallisades figures I have is appalling. Does anyone have a red/transparent Acroyear that didn’t break at the shoulder?
Jason, you know something about those coloured Acroyears! Some time ago I posted an enquiry about these, did anyone know anything about them, and got not replies. I saw them once on YJ, and missed the ones you saw on Ebay. Are they really knockoffs and not articulated? I saw two three-packs; one had a pink one and one had an all-gold or all-metallic one (a bit like the colour scheme of Pallisade’s gold rollerskate type Acroyear). They appeared to be legitimate TRU exclusives from the packaging. I once hoped to collect all the colour variations of the ball-handed Acroyear, but I never got the watch set with Iron Star or the Birth of Acroyear set (what did they call him – Pollution Star? Snot Star?) When I saw those two triple sets, I gave up.
CBC, don’t sell any of your lovely Cyborgs, you’ll only regret it, and you’ll never be able to get them again. Long haired cheeky chat show hosts can afford to pay through the nose on YJ. You seem to have an interest in the insect world; is that how you chose your name? I was at college a couple of years ago doing a boring engineering course, and there was a book in the library about insect behaviour that was fascinating. I particularly remember the chapter about ant slavery.

Hypno, regarding the chrome acroyears - I am sure that microforever had a page on them, and they came with a puzzle, but I now can't find it! Doubtless Paul knows. I'll have another look tomorrow. I still have the pictures from the auction - not sure how good they are, but I can put them up. I also had some photos of some knock-offs I bidded (bade?) on - they didn't go very high, but I was just an inexperienced bidder at the time. I'll see what I can find. Jason

Yes hypno, im well into insects generally, i figure if you like bugs you can be happy anywhere as they can be found anywhere and crickets in particular are just so robot-like, or really robots are like them!! Actually if you combine acrobiom with acroscorls metallic skeletal spiny 'wings' and chest armour you can create some very geigeresque forms, also ive put scorl chest armour on biom and attached a second set of biom arms onto the rear shoulder ball joints on the armour, with each arm equipped with one of the dagger weapons (pointing forward) you get a super ray harryhausenesque 4 armed 'kali' type monster. Oh and for everybody out there i WONT be selling any cyborg stuff from now on, they are way to good!! I'm just so glad ive still got my walder II, not a lot of chance of getting another of those.

As for amazon acroyears and microman generally if you want super photos i'd recommend the new microman chronile book, i got a copy a few weeks back, they have super clear shots of all the microman from bare foot to bio machines and everything inbetween except most of the microchange. Amazon comes up around twice a year on ebay and usually go around $120 for boxed completer (which is how they mostly appear funnily enough).

Assuming we have similar tastes in toy greatness what do you guys think of the new Binaltech TF's? some fans are getting a bit bored with the designs and i know what they mean, maybe the toys lack a bit of personality compared to gen 1 and they are almost to cool for their own good BUT I do like them and own streak, lambor and hound. From shots however I think that meister is gonna become my favourite, it looks great as car and robot and choosing between red and while will be tricky.
