Hi, I recently won on ebay this smaller version of Clover's Trider G7 "Bird Attack" (on the left -- original larger Clover on the right) I'm pretty intrigued if anyone has come across it before?? It didn't have a box and I don't have any info from the seller. Its about 5" high to the top of the head and has a "made in Korea" stamp on the back. I suppose its a knock-off but its a pretty good one (except for the trident). I've never seen it mentioned anywhere. But I remember reading somewhere that Clover had done some production from Korea at some point... Can anyone add any info on this? Thanks! Anyway, I'm totally happy to find another version of the Bird Attack Trider -- one of my favorites, knock-off or not! Now if I could just find a 12" DX knock-off version!

That is very cool! I may have seen a pic of that but would never know it was different size from a photo! I have the standard sparkly winged toy. KingboyD was quite versed in Clover variants. What say Myles?

In general, the "Clover" Made in Korea toys are regarded as knock offs, even though the quality is really good - remember that a lot of the clover Korea toys were toys that weren't originally made by clover, but by Popy!
I for one would love to see a box for this mini tryder though...

Yes, all I know is that the seller bought it at a convention in San Antonio 20 years ago and he said that some Military personnel in the area had been stationed in Japan (and maybe Korea) at some point and had brought back toys with them... and that they sometimes sold them in the area.
I didn't know Popy was producing Clover toys in Korea! That's a twist!

No, you are misreading what I said - there are toys marked Clover Korea, released in Korea (and imported into the US also) that are actually popy toys. They most likely were made in Korea (possibly Taiwan) and are pretty much exact copies except for the markings.
No one is 100% sure if they were licensed/unlicensed Korean products actually made by Clover, or just straight KOs that they stamped and packaged differently made by Clover or a random company in Korea etc. There's not a lot of info.
I have owned two of the four we know about (possibly more were released since your mini tryder may be the fifth) and there were either no differences or very minor differences in stickers and accessories mainly.

Grendizer (figure only) Grendizer w/ Spazer (supposedly) Don Hakka Sir Jogo Mini Tryder G7 (possibly, finding a boxed one would help verify for sure)
