$60,000 for a mint in box Black Daltanius... does anyone know if any jumbo machineders have come close to this insanity??? page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t537048205I can't imagine any chogokin have gone for anything close to this before, but I'm curious if anyone has any view on this... How many of these Black Daltanius sets were made??

They made enough but they are rare. They usually break very easily just like popy blue plastic does.
Last ones I know that sold that were mint in box complete did 20k and 24k USD. Maybe one at 30k too.
Prior to that there were a few at 4/6/10K USD in varying degrees of MIB condition.
I'm surprised it went so high but this one looks unused.

Makes me wonder, how many Black Version chogokin are there? I have a few less rare ones:
- Takatoku Black Gyakutenoh deluxe -- kind of mid-sized version - 1999 Edition Black Standard versions of Raideen (technically DX), Godsigma, and Combattra
I know there is a circa '99 Mazinger Z stadard Black Edition by Banpresto, and of course the famous original Raydeen black version from the '70s.
Any others besides these and this Daltanius DX?

There was supposedly a DX Gordian prototype, not sure if any were produced maybe just a few final production samples? Also the chrome Laserion (I know that's not black). Both are pictured in Green Arrow Graffiti.
There was some mention of a black DX godsigma prototype but I don't think it even got to prototype stage.

DX Godsigma black would have been really awesome! Oh well...

Oh yeah I did forget the GA-100 Gundam Black Version by Banpresto/Bandai -- 1000 made and it looks very good.

When you mention Chrome Laserion... no lime green etc? Everything is chrome? Do you have a pic to share?

Chrome everything. I'll email you a pic later as I will be near the book later tonight. It is a very small partial pic.

Remember they made the GA-100 in all silver also. I personally didn't care for the silver or black versions.
If you really want to get technical, a lot of popy bandai ST and DX robot type toys have been made in black or "special" versions. Like god reideen and the Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Zords etc.

Thanks I was more referring to the popy/clover/takatoku era and the later remakes... the later ones for SOC and Zords aren't really my cup of tea. I think the all black Gundam looks good...
Probably my favorite black versions so far that I own are the black ST Godsigma and Takatoku Gyakutenoh. Is it the only black version that Takatoku did? Anyone know?

Here's a cool article on this Garada K7 -- I didn't know much about it's rarity before as I don't collect jumbos. Thanks! toyboxdx.com/ramblearchive/2006/k7/So has anyone compiled a complete listing of the Popy era "Black Versions"?
