Well, it looks like they are doing a Metal Build Dynames Repair III and a Metal Build Justice Gundam, probably sometime in 2021. So, it seems they are at least dipping their toes into giving other suits the Metal Build treatment. The fact is, the Metal Build line is extremely popular, and they are literally running out of "main character suits" to give the Metal Build treatment to, so that probably factored into them finally giving other suits that are not just recolors of "main character suits"--see F91 Harrison Madin and Destiny Heine--renditions. That Dynames repair III hurts my soul. Season 1 Dynames would have been amazing. So close, yet so far. I'm defintely looking forward to pairing that future Justice with the freedom 2.0.

Another MRS release of the 00 Gundam. It's available on P-bandai USA. I had the original with the XN raiser/7sword option set, but the new release though is exactly the same figure, it got some nice details and markings. The original release was surprisingly a good figure with solid joints. It also did not have weight issue and can stand on its own with the XN (given you still have to pose it right, but it can stand without support from the back). Also I am not sure if it has the same blue, it looks different, but it could just be the photo. The old release provided stickers for markings... lol, but the sticker detail makes the whole figure stand out, so it somewhat does the job. p-bandai.com/us/item/N2533321001001

I must've been asleep (the again, purposely cutting down on my collecting may have been a factor), but Metal Robot Spirits line delved into the Sanguo (Three Kingdoms)...? Dang...may have to pick them up.
From my search, they did Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Cao Cao, and Guan Yunchang...?

I think the after market value isn't going high for those, so you might still find decent price for those.

Just opened my Barbatos and set it up with the stands and all. Impressive Metal Robot Damashii with a very nice sculpt and has decent amount of printed decals. It does feel heavier than previous entries of this size, as it boast to have the highest metal content in this series. Very nice sharp pointy parts that you don't expect from figure in this size. Articulation is very good for the main joints, though you do have to be careful with certain shoulder and hip panels rubbing each other, as some of those has slightly less range of motion than you think and can get it the way sometimes. One main set back I found about the engineering in this figure is the ludicrous amount of metal ball + plastic socket joints used in major articulation point, and many became the culprit of being floppy after extensive posing. Wotafa even used his as a tutorial video for joint tightness fixing on all those ball joints using the super glue trick. Mine luckily wasn't bad, with most of those ball joints tight enough, but my waist ball joint always lean to the left side (like half of it is loose). Rather than keep fighting against it, I just posed it with the lean, and kept it in a pretty fixed pose with the mace supported by stands. It is satisfying as the figure did a lot of things right and looks great. But those ball joints can be the weak points and doesn't give you a lot of confidence to pose and fiddle with it a lot, even though it has a metal frame of sort, like a mini Metal Build. All in all, a no brainer for a Barbatos fan, but a piece you need to handle with some caution.

Metal robot is getting all the cool releases... wonder why they are putting it over MB line? Cuz, the market for $300-a-wack gokin toys -- while decent since we're all insane -- is not also the bread and butter for quick revenue? That'd be my guess.

Guess so, but a couple years ago the metal spirit line was frozen, while MB releases were more common... also the metal spirit are selling at a higher price point... anyway the new management seem to have changed a lot of things. I hope we get a MB barbatos and infinite gundam someday.

I'm pretty sure we will at least get a MB Justice, probably next year. At least that was Bandai's intention back during the MB Infinity exhibit in June of last year. It's a popular suit from a popular character from SEED, so it should be a prime target for a MB release. Also, Bandai is running out of main character suits they can make MBs out of. Gonna have to dabble into secondary character suits eventually, which is what they are starting to do if that Dynames Repair III prototype that was shown off at their MB Infinity exhibit in 2019 goes into production.
As for the Metal Robot line, it has certainly gotten a resurgence lately. And the prices has been going up as well. I've seen some MRD figures getting close to Metal Build pricing. For instance, the Akatsuki (either the Oowashi or the Shiranui version) can easily be found to be selling for well over $200 USD.

The Metal Robot Damashii Barbatos is actually not much smaller than the Metal Build Astray Red Frame. Not saying they are same scale, but the size is much closer than I thought, just thinner in general. So as figure price going up, maybe sales of Metal Builds slowly decline due to high price (mid $200 is becoming the norm) and Bandai needs to push for the lower price line to keep up the profit.

Anybody getting ready for Zeta? Looks like preorders are dropping in a few hours. Since a few shops are no go due to COVID, doesn't look like we have a lot of choices. Hope the preorders won't be that crazy. Update: Zeta was up on Amazon Japan for a few minutes, but for some reason it can't be shipped to the US. Have to jump ship to Nin-Nin and got one, together with SHF Shin Ultraman. The Zeta on Amazon Japan is all gone (became scalper land at 33000yen ) by the time I am done checking out at Nin-Nin. Phew, got one at least.
