Oh boy, this looks like the first ever FSS Gokin to be made. 1/100 scale, 40(!) cm, price and release date unknown. I think this is Volk's first-ever attempt at creating a figure of this kind and given the complexity of the design I don't know how this will turn out. Everything will be articulated, even the figures, and the designer (Mamoru Nagano) even made a joke about how it's durable enough to be played with by a 6-year-old in a bathtub. This will be a headscratcher of a release indeed. hobby.dengeki.com/event/476769/

Sadly this isn't a FSS design. Instead it's part of Nagano's passion project Gothic Made which barely got shown in any Japanese theaters and never got released on home video. I honestly don't see this thing actually being put into production. Volks tried back in the day to make both gokin and robot damashii sized motar heads from FSS , but they never made it past the prototype stage.

^That was Wave, not Volks. And this was announced at today's screening of Gothicmade with some 500 people or so in attendence, so it's pretty official. And all of FSS's designs have been redesigned as Gothicmades now. This one is the new version of the Empress Flame. And a very big figure as well:

Peculiar choice for mech...as I would had hoped they'd release a Mirage instead since that's one of the series' most recognizable robots?
Still, if this is the springboard for more, I'm all for it. Interested to hear what the price is.
EDIT: Okay, just saw the above post that this is NOT a FSS mech. Cuz, I was staring at this and kinda scratching my head...

^This is the lead mech from the 2012 movie, so it makes sense for it to be released

Is there something in this announcement that indicates it is a toy and not a model kit? This thing is the niche of niche products. If it does get put into production, I'll be amazed.

If it does get put into production, I'll be amazed. It was spoken by Nagano at the film's post-screening. "Pre-made figure, can be played with by a 6-year old kid to an old man, durable enough to mess around with in a bathtub- everything will be articulated down to the individual finger joints" This has been in the works since 2013, so I will be very surprised if it doesn't go into production, especially with such a big announcement. Unlike Wave, Volks isn't known for cancelling projects.

Exciting and disappointing news at the same time. Don't really like the new designs, nor the idea of changing/renewing FSS universe into Gothicmade. It just lost a lot of the cool aspects of the FSS series and the mechs. But seeing a figure close to finish in that size is encouraging in some way...sort of.

This sounds amazing. Always wanted a non model kit FSS. Definitely prefer the older designs though :X

I'm torn. I like FSS, but I also dig the new designs. Would be nice to be able to watch Gothicmade to see how well it stands up next to Five Star Stories.

Sorry for the bump, but was there any news on this anywhere in the past year?

Yeah, as interesting as this release is, being the first FSS gokin and all, it is getting weirder and weirder.

It might be skinny, but it's not small. 42 cm tall- twice the size of your average SoC or Metal Build. I'm not really concerned about durability as a result, and though the price is high, it's not something out of the question for a non-Bandai company making something of this size and quality. If Sentinel were to make it, I bet you all it would easily go over a grand.
Watch the end of this video. It's a Goliath of a figure.

I have 2 Sentinel Ultramans standing 30cm tall with intricate articulations and LED electronics, and only $300 a pop. This Kaiserin figure has a lot of height, but not a lot of mass. It doesn't look like it has very complex joint systems or articulations either. It would be more acceptable at 50000yen mark, not 80000yen. But that's just me.
