Hi there
I've just discovered this site via Google - nice to see so many other Henshin Cyborg collectors out there.
I'm keen to know if anyone has (or even better, knows a good place to possibly find) the Dr Katagai Henshin Cyborg. I think he was one of those limited release models, like Gao Gai Gar, but seemingly very rare.
I'm guessing he's basically a normal Neo Henshin Cyborg body, but with a head painted with skin and hair, and wearing clothes?

Hello Norse, welcome to the board! Henshin Cyborg is my obsession! Where are you based? Do you have a big collection? Post pictures if you can! Dr Katagai is pretty damn rare, much rarer, I believe, than the Neo HC GaoGaiGar. I don't have one, but I'm sure he has a Neo HC body, as you say, with flesh coloured head and hands and a lab coat and trousers. I do know that Cyborg PPFM, who also came with clothes, has black feet, because there's no way you can get a boot or shoe over those already shoe-like feet. You would imagine that you would get an alternative pair of feet so you can display the figure naked without it looking silly, but I don't think it's the case with PPFM. Your best bet to get hold of Dr. Katagai would be on the Yahoo Japan auctions (I have seen him there from time to time), but you will need a mediator unless you can communicate in Japanese and have an address in Japan you can use. And the mediators are expensive! Here is the address for the HC search result anyway, so you can look and dream: search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search?sb=desc&desc=%ca%d1%bf%c8%a5%b5%a5%a4%a5%dc%a1%bc%a5%b0&acc=jp&apg=1&f=0x62&s1=end&o1=a&at=true&alocale=0jp

Hey there hypnotator
In spite of the nordic sounding name, I'm actually an Aussie. I don't have a big Neo HC collection - just a silver Neo HC and Gao Gai Gar G07 (Korean version). But hey - they're cool toys! I wouldn't mind picking up a 99 version some time, but I'd like to get some more colourful Neo HC (eg red, blue). I think the Neo is the best of the Henshin Cyborgs - he's got a pretty muscular, tough kinda image. Whereas the original Henshin Cyborg looks kinda wimpy by comparison. (Sorry if I've offended any purists!)

Yeah, Neo has the best looking body, and 99 has the best articulation, but I suppose I'm a "purist" because I like the vintage ones best. A scaled- down version of Cyborg was released here in England back in 1975 and that's where it all started for me. I'm very excited about the current reissues of the vintage Japanese ones. I've just acquired them but Mrs. Hypnotator has put them away until Christmas. Please check my collection if you have time: robotjapan.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=GenGallery&action=display&thread=1088662862post an appreciatory (or derogatory) comment there and my collection will jump back to the top of the board.

Neo's aren't to expensive on ebay Norse. Shipping has to be killer to Australia! The red and blue ones are my favorite of the Neo line. Sorry I never got a Dr. Katagi. I never have seen it on ebay only on Yahoo Japan. Isn't shipping cheaper to Australia since you are closeer? EMS is killer to the states! Which part of Australia you from? Out of all the countries that is where I would love to take my family.

Hey there rednecktex
Yeah there's plenty of cheap regular Neo HC's out there, although it seems 95% are the silver Cyborg A and B models, coloured ones are a little fewer and further between.
Shipping to AU from Japan is probably not going to be any more or less expensive than shipping to the US. Going through all the administrative hassle of trying to purchase from Japan eBay is going to be the major headache I think. Wish I had a good friend living in Japan still!
By the way, I'm from Melbourne, Victoria. A bit like an Australian version of Seattle maybe (complete with the weather!)

Uh Oh, I was planning on buying that. If it's any deterrent, this is a used one that doesn't come with his original labcoat or his skin coloured hands. I'm not sure where that trenchcoat comes from. I asked the seller and he didn't know much about the figure so he was of no help. I hope your one of those people who likes things new in the box or complete! The real Dr. Katagai looks like this Speaking of which this site is hilarious: www.pimbrecords.com/mfo/3.0/som4.html

Thanks, Johnny; what a great site! It begs the question, who's the transparent space-conquering alien with visible innards who's a sex machine to all the chicks?

Huh? I didn't see that alien other than Waruder Shaft!
I'm going to put the link on a new thread in case some people don't look here.

It's a joke; the theme song from the original "Shaft" by Isaac Hayes contains the immortal lyric, "Who's the private d*ck who's a sex machine to all the chicks? Shaft! Darn right."
