Hello All,
As you can see this is my first post to this forum.
Let me start at the beginning.....
I'm moving in a few months so decided to sort some junk out of my loft, I found an old sports bag of mine which contained a few toys, couple of action men, a few transformers etc etc. I also found the curious purple action figure, the one i had LOVED playing with as a child. Particularly as he had a head that came off, you could see his guts and he had a really scary skeleton suit.
I listed this on ebay a few days ago for a £1 as an unknown 70's action figure. (He's in pretty poor shape, he has one hand, one foot and his head is missing. He does have his skeleton chest plate though). I was surprised to quickly get a bid from a model collector....which got me thinking.
I've now spent the last two days scouring the internet for information on the little guy and can proudly say that my girlfriend is 'p***** off' with hearing about 'that' toy.
I'd be happy for you guys to confirm what i have but i think it is a denys fisher/takara henshin cyborg. It's the purple muton and my mum must have bought me the 'torg' suit to go with it. I remember having the 'snake hand' (my description) and the molten spiky hand (again mine).
After reading a few of the topics on this board i can now say i am a proud owner and definately will not be selling.
I would however, like to restore him to his former glory and would be grateful of any advice and details of persons who may have the missing parts i need.
I phoned my mum today, as the sportsbag of toys came from her house long after i left home, and she confirmed that she's sure she has seen the head in amongst the toys at her house that the kids in our family play with.(fingers crossed) I duly instructed her to protect it at all costs. The muton was complete when i used to play with it and i think many of the missing parts probably went home in the pockets of younger members of the family when they came to visit.
Apologies for the long initial post, but i just wanted to get this off my chest and nobody else i've spoken to is particularly excited about my 'find'.

Good choice, keep the muton, keep the muton. Take a look at 'too many walders' thread to see what other 'mutons' are available. Takara the company where the UK muton design stemmed from has recently reissued the original 12" versions ( called 'king walder' there)of the figure and one even has the snake hand!! Takara also released an 8" version of king walder around 4 years ago which is essentially a muton, BUT there was a yellow and green one!! Despite all these reissues (which are hard to find in themselves) all henshin fans east and west are looking for the 'real' muton, ie UK denys fisher version which you have.

A quick visit to my parents this morning, confirms the worst, that there are no bits in any of the toy boxes there. However I know that i have seen that spiky molten hand recently. My son also confirms that he's seen it so it could be pretty much anywhere - probably in amongst the bits and pieces boxes of toys we have with old macdonalds toys and things you find on the front of magazines. I've decided that tracking those parts down can be my mini obsession for the next few months. I've seen the Gold Neo Henshin cyborgs 12" (a and b) for $18.99 each plus postage,is that a good price, are these re-issues also as collectable?

neo henshins at $20 is a great price, the 'real' reissues of cyborg and muton are/were available at tripitaka toys in UK, unfortunately they just got in and sold out of gold and silver uncostumed cyborgs (ie the 12" reissue of original cyborg on which UK cyborg was based) and the 3 lking walders (red, green and the skeleton king, ie original torg). The costumed cyborgs are still available but pricier, you still get the real cyborg in there though. Keep an eye on ebay for the reissue cyborgs/walders as they may start appearing soon although as far as i know only 1 skeleton king has appeared as yet (last month) plenty of costumed cyborgs though.

Hello Muton55398; welcome to the board! A nice little find. It reminds me of my first Muton in adulthood - a friend’s that was rediscovered in his garage when his cousins visited and went through all the archived toys there. My friend let me have it for free; they weren’t worth much then (about 1988) and he knew how much it meant to me. One foot was missing and I displayed him with a lump of blutack to make him stable. Then a different friend unearthed his Cyborg and Android figures in about 1992 and I paid him what was then good money for them (£40 with the Invader ship and the Cybo-nator weapons thrown in). Needless to say, a ridiculous bargain by today’s prices, but nobody then, including myself, knew how much the values would increase. They were just my favourite toys from childhood. He has forgiven me. Cyborg had a spare foot and I painted it with a purple wash for Muton. I feel sorry for that guy who bid on your Muton; did you just withdraw it from Ebay? A shrewd move on your part, though, as he is a desirable item, mostly sought by Japanese collectors. Finding replacements for the hand and foot (and the head, unless you found it) won’t be easy. Handless, footless, shinless and armless figures are much more common than the tiny limb parts needed to make them complete. Handless and footless figures are useful for dressing up, though, either in the weapons (“Cybo-nators”) or the costumes (“Subforms”). The “molten spiky hand” is called the Scorch Bore and the snake one is the Venom Injector. Collectively they are the Mutator weapons. These are their British, Denys Fisher names; they had other names in Japan. Good luck looking for those bits! I mislaid a couple of tiny model kit parts at my mum’s house because I didn’t pack them away properly. They were in the attic, where there is granular insulation, and I’ve long since given up hope of finding them. Now I pack tiny parts away in a series of sealing bags then a tupperware box, just to be safe. The silver and gold Neos are far more common than other colour variations, but $20 is a very good price. Comet in London sell them for £50 a piece.

Hi to you too Hypnotator thanks for the welcome, Yes, i did just cancel my auction on ebay, it was listed as an 'unknown 1970's action figure'. I feel sorry for the guy on ebay too! probably thought he was going to get a bargain. I ordered the cyborgs, 2 type A and 2 type B, when they arrive i'll post more details, I'll be keeping one of each for myself so if any collectors are interested i'll be happy to trade or sell the other two. I've just seen two vintage figures go on ebay for £82, one was incomplete, is that the going rate? I would welcome a conservative estimate of my muton (one foot, one hand and head missing) I looked through boxes and boxes of toys in our garage today and finally found the scorch bore, my son was right, he had seen it. I'm pretty sure we don't have any other parts now. I've found a fella in the USA who has a flying platform type craft that the legs of the cyborg fit dirtectly into, it's $15 should i buy it? I saw an identical item on the photographs of hypnotator's collection.

That guy probably wouldn’t have got a bargain, because others in the know would probably have noticed it too and it would have fetched a realistic price. I followed an Android recently that was listed as a Battlestar Galactica figure but it still fetched a fair whack. £82 is very good for two figures if one was complete. Was this the end price or was the auction still ongoing? Loose complete figures usually fetch anything between £50 and £150. Boxed with all paperwork can fetch £200 to £300. I paid £45 a year ago for a Cyborg with no feet. I’d give your incomplete Muton a rough value of £25 to £30. Cyborg is the most common, then Muton, and Android is the rarest. Most of the UK series are rescaled versions of the Japanese line, but the Cybo-nators (Cyborg’s chromed weapons) aren’t; they are identical to the Japanese counterparts in size, which means they are more common, having been sold in both the UK and Japan. The flying saucer sled you mention is called the Cybo Mobile and I would say that $15 is a good price. It was originally sold with two hand weapons, so it is effectively only part of a set. The chrome finish on the Cybo-nators and Android’s Annihilators wears off with play, so check condition carefully.

I just got an email confirming my '98 cyborgs have been despatched, should be with me next week. I'm pretty excited, i haven't bought any toys for myself for a while. I've found a source for the cyborg(silver and gold) and king walder(red and green) re-issues. In stock. I know it's a bit off topic but could anyone give a me an estimate of a reasonable price to pay. If you've read my original post above you'll realise I am a born again muton owner. I've been trying to convince my other half, that they will be a really good investment, but i don't know if i can justify buying more toys this month.

On Yahoo Japan they're invariably 3500Yen (around $35 USD) and if you went through a buying serive you'd pay about 1500Y commission and about 800Yen intra japan postage and fees, and then postage to you. So if you're paying much more than $58 USD before postage it's not really worth it.

You did well to find those reissues, Muton53398. Although they are only recently reissued, they are sold out everywhere. Whether your other half wants to hear it or not, if you don't snap them up now, you'll be paying through the nose later, if you can find them at all.

I just got my shipping confirmation through, 2 red and 2 green are on the way to the UK now, along with the two cyborgs i ordered. I hope they arrive before christmas, only thing that worries is the possibility of charges from C&E. Once everything arrives, i'll post a few photos of my new 'collection'. Muton is back in the loft, 'resting'. Just until i can find an outfit to dress him in or a replacement foot.
