Holy sh*t! They showed it again. I thought this one was totally dead in the water. EDIT: It seems smaller than the 1/35 DX they showed off earlier, though. I hope it's the same, but I'm no pro at scales and can't really tell. I need a 14-inch Valk.

I never committed to a arcadia as but was tempted..simply seeing this brings bsck childhood memories..I prefer the design of the vf1j over the s.. Thank you Bandai! With all the announcements from tamashii nations looks like this is the only one I'll commit to I first macross figure

Black hole, Macross collecting is.

I think, I'll just stick with this with super or armor parts and maybe a DXVF1-S Roy How's the built and quality for DX chogokins? How much die cast on them? I heard nothing but good things about this line..how big and how much approx. would this be? Really new to the line..I mainly collect socs and metal build and got a single G1 Prime threea

DX Chogokin is in general a very good line; Maz was well-reviewed but had some joint issues and a couple of QC problems, and I've heard only good things about Great Mazinger (the second release), so hopefully it's just up and up from here. However, the bigger question is how Bandai tackles the Valkyrie design. We know they can pull it off in a smaller scale with the DX Chogokin figures, but this looks to have some new engineering and of course there's the question of the light features and how easy those will be able to access and protect given the transformation. It's definitely a good thing that they're doing even more with this than previous Valks, but we don't know how it'll translate to a larger scale. And as for metal content, the DX Chogokin Macross figures only really use metal in the joints, legs and feet. I'd expect this to have more die-cast on the surface, so there's the open question of possible scratching and paint-rub as you transform it.
I'm beyond excited for this, don't get me wrong. It's just a big unknown at this point. But part of the excitement is being one of the first to explore it, haha

actually it was the VF-19 Advanced they Bandai has released before (from the Frontier movie when Isamu showed up for half a second). This is the first DX YF-19 from Bandai. Rumor has it that it's basically the same mold as the VF-19 Advanced with different paint app, logos, and accessories. Not sure if the cockpit will be any different since the YF-19 is supposed to be able to seat two.

Hi Locidm, I see that you are a student of the game for Macross figures as well - silly question, with the announcement of the VF-1J, approx how much would it cost and also is it also a war to PO to get a PO in? My first experience of War was PO for MEtal Build 00 QanT

We don’t know enough yet, honestly. The scale is probably 1/48 so people with big 1/60 collections might hold off, but I’d say yes, it'll be a war to get a PO in

I'm leaning on this rather than the arcadia/yamato versions - I might just get two so that I don't get too sucked in, this one and a Vf-1S Roy if he gets released

My first experience of War was PO for MEtal Build 00 QanT If I have to guess this will be at least $300 and as much as $500 depending on how big it really is and how much gimmicks/accessories it contains. PO will be a war but I think Bandai is finally understanding the demand for Macross and not grossly under-producing anymore. I haven't had any issue ordering anything Macross from Bandai (except for the exclusive VF-31J Kai, which I'm skipping). If you think that at one point in your life you'll want to have an entire squadron of VF-1 valks, go with the Yamato/Arcadia 1/60, or even the Bandai Hi-Metals. I have a hard time seeing Bandai releasing a whole squadron at this new scale, whatever it's going to be. Price is going to be high, and the boxes are going to be huge. The Arcadia VF-1 valkyries are really wonderful. In fact, up till VF-31, all of Bandai's DX Chogokin Macross offerings have been in my opinion inferior to Yamato/Arcadia. With the recent VF-31, I think Bandai has finally met the bar previously set by Yamato/Arcadia.

I guess we just have to wait and see for more details. Thanks for the comparison between Arcadia and Bandai Valks, that is quite interesting....

There's no way this big valk won't come out, at some point. It's just too cool of a project, with enough buyers interested. I'm glad it's been a bit of a wait, if Bandai is fiddling around with the final design to get it right. BTW, previous thread with a few pages of blabbing about the same thing: robotjapan.proboards.com/thread/23849/dx-soc-35-vf-bandai?page=4

This doesn't look like the 1/35 though. Apparently the Japanese on the sign underneath it says something about two scales, so I'm still hopeful, but we'll see. I'd kill for a fully transformable 14" Valk

I'll be fine with a 1/48 not a hardcore macross fan but would want to own a valkyrie The 1/35 will be out of my price range - that LED lights and size - wow, gonna be $$$$$$$

SO the DX will be a 1/48 scale after all and not 1?35 scale? Will it be the same size as the old 1/48 Yamato? If it does then it will be an easy pass as I got 3 of the 1J Hik already.

We don't know yet. The piece on display here isn't the same as the one they showed two years ago, but there is talk of a Valkyrie line in two scales. We'll have to wait and see.
