Though I share this with you guys and might benefit those who are intending to visit the toy heaven they call Japan!
firstly, my modest haul
One of the first places I visited for toys is Akihabara's Electric Radio town (right next to Akihabara subway station). There, you will find amiami, yellow submarine and tons of other toy shops with a wide variety of toys (well except SOCs). There are even more toy stores and eateries around the building and not to mention, maid cafes! hehe
Overall, Akihabara is a wonderful place to start hunting for toys and especially if you are into plastic figures.
However, the most memorable place I visited for toys was Nakano Broadway! (couple minutes walk from Nakano station) It felt like a condensed version of Akihabara. All in one building. 3 stories filled with countless toy shops. And don't ever forget to visit Manderake while you are there. While one can complain about their pricing, no one can fault their huge range of toys on offer.
one advantage of buying from Mandarake is they offer tax exemption and shipping services as well! Situated at level 4. However, the catch is, if you opt for shipping, no tax rebate.
Oh, and no trip to Tokyo is complete for a Gundam fan without a visit to Divercity to have a peek at this bad boy!
and it freakin transforms to destroy mode!
as a bonus, there is also a mega store and exhibition area on level 7

When I was there last year, there were more Caucasians there than ever before! Nevertheless, the toy selection is top notch, and the experience is always great, even though I don't score anything good anymore.
