New pic. Anyone knows what it says? LinkPretty much delay from late June release to late July, due to reworking the shoulder joint and feet (outlined in their photo) so that the finish product looks better, after taking feedbacks from fans. The rest is just telling people how they will get notified depending if they preordered from the HK toy show or other venues. Not something concerns you unless you are local (but you would be able to read Chinese then )

Before there was a SOC, there was a HK made full metal Lightan as well, with a smooth look (no textured box torso), sized just about a real lighter. Had my brother bought one for me back in the days. And we still see other attempts afterwards, and now this release, even after SOC just reissued the 24K version. I still remember the Cantonese lyrics of the theme song I used to watch when I was little.

That's a good thing to know about HK, hope this figure can get good results, and yes the theme song is pretty good to listen to.

Didn't Hung Hing also make a 12" gold lightan? My friend had one and it's huge! I stuck with my SOC.

But mine is probably their first version, so its the small one, not the 12" size. Its more around 4 - 4.5" tall (real lighter size), and the sculpt is quite retro and boxy. The joints are not very good in terms of engineering from what I remembered (either friction or fake ratchet that only have a rough single click, not real teeth with spring). But it was cool at the time.

I think GoShogun was part of the same company that did Blocker IV, Machine Blaster and Baldios. Which were direct competitors to Bandai’s properties like Mazinger. I think that’s why CMS Corp made them and not Bandai and why you see companies like Evolution touching those licenses. I don’t believe they will ever be SOCs.

Didn't those SRW games from Banpresto (owned by Bandai Namco) have characters like Goshogun, Baxinger, those from the Brave series etc? Why doesn't Bandai make those into the Soc line?

i think they will give us the old "no demand for the character" line
which is not always true, look at 5pro Astroganger it was a huge hit for them

Because there are no tooling costs for those and the licensing costs are likely fairly low. They add more value by having them then they cost. Just a few hours for the games graphics designers. Whereas the costs to engineer a SOC are higher and it probably carries a higher licensing cost.
