Hi everyone! I just wanted to give my thoughts into the new Mazinger movie that came out in North America today! I watched the movie with my dad and I absolutely loved! It is probably a once-in-a lifetime experience!
SPOILER WARNING
Likes:
-The battles are definitely the highlight of the film for me. The variety color and yelling really gets you pumped up.
- Tbh, I didn't really like the bulky design of Mazinger when I first saw him in the trailers, looked too Gundam-like to me with the panel linings
but I'm happy to report that all mechs in the show looked amazing as ever.
-The characters kept their appeal from the original show, they are all likable and very inspiriring (from a kid's POV)
-Shiro pilots a Mazinger-like mecha, curious to see that in figure form one day.
- Overall, the 70s feel with the music, designs, and style really hooked me in. I felt like I was 5 again, seeing Koji and Tetsuya yell out attacks...DAMN I could listen to them all day lol.
-THE PREMOVIE INTERVIEWS
SPOILER:
Great's first fight and Mazinger's last fight were amazing, nothing short of pure testosterone
Dislikes:
- There was barely any plot 😂, so rather, a super simplistic plot. I didn't expect a deep story but it could have been better, with Infinity's backstory.
- LISA was so underwhelming as a character, she's almost like Rei from Evangelion.
- While I loved the final fight, Tetsuya's entanglement was kind of anti climactic.
What I would've wanted:
This next section is purely just what I wanted to see:
-LISA should've touched more boxes inside the parallel dimension...I KNOW GRENDIZER AND THE GETTERS WERE IN ONE OF THOSE BOXES 😂😂
-I'm kinda upset that they basically ignored Kaiser's existence in the continuity! If he got destroyed and Koji would've went back to Mazinger, that should've been just fine.
-Where is Duke Fleed and Ryoma Nagare? :s
OVERALL: It's a decent movie for normal movie goers but to a Mazinger fan since childhood, this meant the world to me, especially the fact that I got to see it with my dad.
