Arklon King Kong Pain ! :(

So some months back I scored a beautiful, complete, and pretty close to mint Arklon King Kong for $250. It even has an unused cut-out sheet with the airplane. Its one of the "crown jewels" of my chogokin collection. It took me a long time to find and I really really love the look of it. Its the best looking Arklon toy by far.

Well as fate would have it, this morning I'm looking at it like Golom in the LoR and thinking what a beauty, and those nipple swords/knives are totally over the top. What were these guys thinking in terms of child safety? And then I had to shoot them for personal gratification... one time, wow that is so cool! Second time.... right one shoots out... left one shoots out and I hear a "crack" and something hit the window.... NOOOOOOOO.... the bottom half of the BLUE PLASTIC sleeve cracked and shot off across the room!!!

I'm really bummed... anyone have a spare torso to sell?

Well the plastic housing for the spring loaded "nipple knife" stops the forward movement of the knife if it doesn't hit anything first... like a hand... since the knife is metal and moving pretty fast the shock cracked the plastic. Seems like a common issue, I've been searching online for a used torso for parts and I noticed the problem on one such Arklon King Kong listed on ebay UK. Also, on further inspection, the housing is a 1 piece unit, you cannot replace only 1 side.

I'm guessing its the curse of the brittle blue plastic!

I've seen quite a few of these with this type of damage. Sorry to hear yours suffered a similar fate. You can probably glue it back in place and still have it display near perfectly.

Will probably try that eventually, but usually the glue never takes the shock like the original... will try with epoxy.

Its a fantastic piece! My favorite Arklon... just beware the nipple blades lol
