Did anyone here get one of these while it was available? I couldn’t resist and picked one up. $40, is a great deal for this figure. It’s perfect if you collect TF and don’t like to transform them. Cause the problem is only when you try to transform Ramjet into its alt mode. The shoulder ratchet parts are installed incorrect during assembly. They were swapped so things don’t line up properly.
Anyway, I could tell that the box were inspected by BBTS, they open the main box, but didn’t look like they touch the figure at all cause the clam shell was still taped up without signs of it being Re-taped. So, I’d tried to transform the figure and yes, it didn’t lined up and the arms didn’t pegged into the smaller side flaps etc... I bought the figure at the discounted price knowing of the problem but I saw the YouTube fix video by the Choosen Prime. It looked like an easy fix so I tried it.
First off, the video is great, and instructions were easy to follow. However, things didn’t go as smooth and what looked like a 15-30 minutes fixed turned into an hour to hour and a half. The first problem I came across was the little screw panel on the back of the right shoulder. On the left side, this panel lifted off and was easy to pry off. On the right side, it was not easy to get off at all. After struggling for a couple minutes trying to pry it off with my finger nails without success, I went and grab a hobby knife. That didn’t work so, I tried a small flat head screw driver. Took me a good half hour and the small part is rather damaged afterwards. You see, someone from the factory decided to glue this part down, which was why it didn’t pry off as easy. Suggest using a heat gun or blow dryer for removal of this small panel if you seek minimal damage.
Next, instead of the hex bit and big pliers, I used a center punch to get the pin out. This method is a lot easier but do note that on the video, they start work on the left side of the figure and push the pin out from the outside, pushing the pin through to the inside part. They repeat the same method on the right side. Well, for my figure the person that assembled the figure decided to do the same installation as the left shoulder and push the pin from the inside part to the out for the right side as well. Anyway, everything looked super easy in the video but like one you tuber always say, your mileage may vary. Overall it was still a fun little fix. Well worth getting if you jumped on the deal.
