Hi all, I hope everyone is taking care with this whole Covid-19 thing. Scary times. Over here in Manila, Philippines, the main Metropolis has been placed on semi-lockdown for a whole month, with people forced to stay home and only allowed to go out to buy necessities. The good news is, the banks, supermarkets and drug stores are still operating, along with fast food restaurants that allow only drive thru and delivery. Anywho, here's my review last as usual for Gx-88 Dairugger. Just click on the image. Stay safe everyone. Gold

I paid full price for mine, and I'm not shy to say that I'm a bit disappointed in the GX-88.
It's not that it's not an awesome piece; it is. It's not that I'm not glad that Bandai gifted this to us Voltron Collectors; I am.
But somehow; after the thrill of the GX-71 Golion; this one just doesn't make the grade for me. I (dare I say it) actually prefer my Miracle Vehicle Voltron more than the GX-88; even with all of it's quality flaws - it just looks better to me.....
Anyone else feel this way; or am I the only collector that's a bit disappointed in it?

Anyone else feel this way; or am I the only collector that's a bit disappointed in it? I felt the Miracle MA-01 was a "close but no cigar" version of an SOC Dairugger. It was a bold move from an relatively unknown manufacturer at the time, but it took 2 or 3 iterations to get it right. Plus the initial experience of receiving one as many RJ forum members remember quite vividly was unflattering. I felt it was better than a Toynami robot. But several years away from SOC quality. The durability was better than CMS though. I'm more of a Golion fan, but I feel Bandai did a slightly better job with GX-88 than they did with GX-71. There was a lot of re-engineering made to the transformation of GX-88 versus the vintage. But the re-engineering on the transformation of GX-71 versus the vintage was minimal at that. This is why GX-88 did not disappoint me.

This is why GX-88 did not disappoint me. The Miracle Prod Catbot was a floppy mess. While it was a gokin-fan's dream, it was just ultimately not the greatest toy...and a faceplanting nightmare because his roller skates were THAT slippery and also, they were prone to completely detach from the ankles. Per dakardave's note, I'd respectfully disagree, I think GX-88 was amazing and frankly, given that I see both Voltrons equally, feel that in some ways, it's even stronger because of the fact Dairugger XV has the individual vehicles, combined vehicles, AND the robot mode.

Yeah, it's not fair to compare one of the simplest combining SOC to one of the most elaborate.
