This will be my swan song to collecting. Prices of collectables and shipping have gone far beyond what I'm willing and can afford to pay. After 30 years of collecting I will get the GX-88 if I can and then exit the hobby. It's gone far beyond what I'm willing to invest. I prefer to hunt local toy stores. However, after TRU closed my local comic shop saw fit to raise prices to stupid level. So I have lost the excitement in collecting. USPS have also announced they will be raising shipping prices to stupid levels in June. So I say good by. Sorry to hear this. Collecting these days does feel tough. New stuff is generally so expensive, that even if quality is better, there’s still reason to go vintage. Though...I feel like SOCs, even if expensive, still manage to deliver above most collectibles. I’m slowing my pace, but resigned to enjoy a couple of excellent releases per year.

I have a friend who owns a comic shop, and it’s very hard for them to sell toys and make any profit. The margins are tiny and they often get stuck with unpopular characters as part of a bad case load out. So if you’re seeing $20-25 on a 6” figure at a comic shop, it’s what they need to sell them for to be viable for them. It’s not their fault. If you do wish to get toys at your comic shop with reasonable prices (or more reasonable), I recommend you negotiate the price with the owner by buying a full case or multiple cases. I had organized a local toy collector group to buy 10-15 cases per month at a good price for all of us. The shop made some money on bulk sales with tighter margins, and the collectors got the toys more cheaply.

the instant I saw this, I heard the song.
I seriously wish I had the budget to go outside of the occasional model kit. this thing would be a beauty to have on my shelf.

everything is getting very expensive, from figure prices to shipping rates
i think one of the ways to help reduce the cost on us is, for those companies to open a branch in some key areas around the world without a middle man

That's why I haven't posted here in a while either. It's not just the money, but the whole ordeal of trying to squeeze into a pre-order slot somehow, and that's a huge gamble when it's an unproven product like Dairugger. Or it's like Gunbuster or Ideon which are very popular and thus pricey, but hardly anybody seems to be considered with the tolerance issues resulting in cracked plastic or even broken pieces. For something costing upwards to $300, that's not something I particularly want to deal with.

Miracle's still looks good... now if sum1 would custom to adopt or add GX-88's lively color sets and details.. just curious.

tweaked a bit.. topmost to make it look different.. but looked like it came from the same base design. change in color would have helped. The dairugger weapons rack is 100% not even close to the same thing as GX-71. Im glad they are the same color, they will match on the shelf. but they are absolutely not even remotely the same. its not even tweaked. its completely a new design. we did both agree they did use the same color hue.. so the intent is there.

I think the intent was to show they’re related since they’re both Voltrons (outside of Japan). Making it the same color was on purpose. Not out of lack of love for the character or some other. Getting the colors to match was probably even more of a hassle than just putting a different color on it.

Wow, how did we get from slamming the non-coloured initial pics to loving it now? Apart from the pose, it's the same right?

This release is special to me. Vehicle Voltron is the 1st collectable robot I bought. I gave it to my son for his 4th Birthday. He's 10 now; there's no turning back - Dairugger's magnificence started our transformation to lifelong hard-core chogokin collectors. The original is a wonder. Despite initial pics, I know with nearly 40 years additional experience Bandai will surpass expectations.

It's the fact that we saw a unfinished prototype with awkward posing compared to a fully painted prototype with decent poses. BTW anybody notice the hands in the above picture.

lol i just love how they managed to squeeze Mazinger z into the same exact page of the GX88, its like they are saying you dont need this you need another repaint Mazinger z
to be honest it keeps getting better with ever photo, but we still need to see how tight the figure is and how it can handle dynamic poses, i think it will have another set of fists as well ?
when the preorder start ?
