I see they are finally making a SOC of him. I have no doubt in my mind if Popy had made a Jumbo Machinder, it would have been the greatest one ever made!

I would have loved to see one too. I really want a jumbo Dairugger in my collection, but I'm not sure if I should add the Toynami Shogun Warriors Dairugger or not.

Yeah. I don’t have that Toynami one either. Just doesn’t feel like a true Machinder. I’ve seen it next to the Golion Machinder and it doesn’t look right. I’m thinking maybe Bandai could do a crowd sourcing like Hasbro did with the Barge. I probably would pay $500 to get one made easily. Guess all we can hope for is one of you talented artists out there make a custom. You know who you are. I just want to see that realized, a jumbo you can take apart to combine into the Land, Sea and Air teams.

The Toynami ones are cool but I wish they had more of an old school look with red misisle clips on the legs and shoulders.

I pulled the trigger on the Toynami Shogun Warriors Jumbo Dairugger. While it definitely does not look anything like a Popy Jumbo Machinder, it does fit the aesthetic of the jumbo vinyl figures that are currently produced by the Brands United Toys from MaxxWork, M3 Studios ETHF, Icarus Toys and ZC World. This definitely has the same related aesthetic like the Maxx Work Jumbo Albegas, so with that being said, I am committed to buying the Toynami Shogun Warrior Golion to complete the Voltron trilogy. Hell, I will also be getting the ZC World Daltanious too. (The Voltron that never was.)

Yeah. Those Voltrons look good together. I don’t mind that Dairugger. I like how they had to make each vehicle individually and glue those together.
I try to just get just one jumbo a year. Some I know I won’t ever get anytime soon due to price like Voltes V, Daidenjin, Leopardon. Not too interested in the Ultraman ones for now. Those going rather high lately.

What does a vintage Popy Jumbo Machinder Voltes V go for these days?
Also, what does a vintage Jumbo Machinder Popy Golion also go for? I have never seen any on eBay ever to know any market value.

To be honest, all those jumbos that weren’t shogun warriors prices fluctuate and tend to be volatile. Definitely over 4 figures depending on condition and if there’s a box. The LJN existing has made it lower than it should be but I think the Popy is almost a different toy. Just made tighter w harder plastic, weighted feet, etc. The missiles including the bright green ones firing out of the lion mouths being the cherry on top.

A Voltes could be from $3000 to $8000. About 4 years ago, I gave up when one got up to $2500 for being loose, without all the accessories, but it was in nice shape.
I am not sure what the Golion would be. I have only seen the knockoff Peru version more recently besides the LJN.

Yeah. I never had that opportunity to get a Voltes at $2500 but did see one for $4500 I passed up on. No accessories, no broken parts. I remember years ago, someone had a perfectly boxed one on eBay for buy it now $3000, auction staring .99. Some dummy bid on it and the buy it now disappeared. Good for the seller as it sold for about 8K which was still cheap for that type of condition w box.
I believe the value of that toy isn’t about scarcity but more about popularity and popularity amongst Filipinos. Basically a cultural icon. Read on a blog somewhere President Marcos took Voltes V off the air which set in motion the beginning of his downfall. You can buy your wife thousands and thousands pairs of shoes while the people starve but don’t take Voltes V off the air! The Voltes V machinder is the crown jewel for all Voltes V collectors.

Wes, if you ever decide to do another run of your incredible 3D printed Jumbo Voltes V, I would commit to purchasing one in a heartbeat.
