Hi experts, need some help finding out what year or decade this particular KO Voltron got released, been bugging me for years now, hehe As you can see, some of the accesories are just multi-colored plastic, while the others including the sword are just plain grey plastic, no chrome paint (note: I painted the shield, that's why it's shiny there in the pic). Was it from the 80? Or possibly 90's, just before Trendmasters Voltron came out? Or is it a "franken-tron", like somebody just decided to mix and match the figures and accesories to come up with a complete set? One more thing, there was no instruction sheet when I got this from the seller, don't know if he lost it or if it's really not included in the set. Will appreciate any info given, thanks!

How long have you been in possession of this? Did you buy this before the Trendmasters set released?

So sorry for the late reply.
I acquired it around 1998 I think, so Trendmasters Voltron was already released.
Important thing to note is that the box did not look brand new when I got it, it already looked kinda old, but still in good condition.
At the time, there were lots of LIONBOTS available, and those have the "gold embossed" Lionbot name on the front of the box, and the Black Lion thighs are not chromed.
I think that's why I bought this instead of the more commonly available LIONBOTS with black thighs.
I also remember seeing the Trendmasters version in some local specialty shops during that time.

I discussed this with Iron Monkey. We're pretty sure this is the Luonbot variant that the Trendmasters is based on. The black face and gray weapons are unique to this complete set.
One final indicator: are the green and red lions tails darker gray than their midsections? Can I see a pic of one disconnected? Thanks!

Hi Cole, thanks very much, now we're getting somewhere You are correct, the tails of the Red and Green Lions are dark grey. Do you happen to know which decade this particular version came out, 80's or 90's? TIA!

Sorry for the slow response. These are probably mid to late '80s. Is there anything written/scratched off beneath the lion's jaws? Such as a Bandai label?

Hi Cole, thanks very much for verifying the date My quest has ended, I can finally rest, lolz I also checked the lions' jaws and you are right, the factory erased some writings above "1981" Thanks again for all the info
