As cheap as it comes from Bluefin, its still US$100 over what I paid for the regular release. While slightly tempted because the color scheme does look nice and vibrant, I don't think I really need a second one with a hefty price. Nor does it really replace the original since the color difference (plainer, but more true to the anime look), even the display stand is different color from 01 & 02's, not being a match in display when all lined up. Almost the new color scheme works against it in some way as a collection, as nice as it is. But for folks that didn't care for that, and want a pretty looking 01, here is your chance.
i agree with you the colors are amazing, specially if you owned the knight Gundam from the metal robot line
btw bro
how is the figure over all ? do you recommend it for a guy like me who doesn't love Eva
i mean i dont love God Mars but i got the figure anyway

after reading the info you guys shared
im sure no one will buy something thats not doing good, so if Bandai bought bluefin thats mean they are doing good and they want to give them more power in the US market
i got 1 figure from Bluefin but it was (& still) the most important figure in my collection, the DX Mazinger and i remember they was an issue with shipping price but they were totally professional and fixed it in no time, so i guess this is good thing in general

People keep mentioning that this is not accurate to the color in the series. When advertised, the advertisement mentioned this is being released in advance of the 4th film. Perhaps this color shows up in final film?
I hope all are correct about Bandai taking US market more seriously. But I'm not hopeful with recent events and how they handle exclusives here. Bluefin Facebook page teased this figure with pics and a note that they would offer the figure with more info to come. No mention of when it would go up.
The figure went up on their site that evening without any mention on their Facebook page. More info didn't come and I would have missed if it were not for this page. (Thank you kumastyle for posting link) The figure was also more expensive here without explanation.
But I did get one. I just hope Bandai becomes more reliable for their fans in USA.
Wrote the above. Then saw this on Facebook.
"We're excited to be carrying the METAL BUILD EVA-01 TEST TYPE. We'll let you know as soon as pre-orders go live. Until then please enjoy this image gallery."
So I guess they will offer it again.

People keep mentioning that this is not accurate to the color in the series. When advertised, the advertisement mentioned this is being released in advance of the 4th film. Perhaps this color shows up in final film?... Mainly because the MB Evas were based on the original TV designs, with an artistic take on top of that, rather than basing on the Rebuild movies. Otherwise Eva 01 would have a lot more green on the torso, and Eva 02 would have a pretty different head. The new Exclusive paint scheme also has a lot of multi-tone purples with pearl metallic finish, as well as a green that is more blue. Very slim chance this is a representation of Eva 01 in the 4th movie (if Eva 01 shows up at all, if you know what happened to it in the 3rd movie), but rather a creative color scheme of a model/figure. Not only animating those patches of purple can be very difficult, but also visually very distracting.

Recommend? For sure. It is probably the best Eva figure in the market right now, especially if you want some metal in it, and don't mind some deviation from the anime organic look. Heck, if you just want one and have deep pockets, the Bluefin PO might be your ticket for a fancy looking display. Tons of accessories and feel quite complete. The only thing about it is because the figure is slim, there are less intricate retracting panels and the joints may not be as robust as other metal builds in some areas, and I heard people occasionally get a loose joint. That depends on your toy karma however. 😅 It is a great piece to have, especially if you don't have a lot of love, but just to have one. Feels like a full package with the nice stand and accessory rack as a stand alone piece (though you still need to place the extra hands and small pieces somewhere else), exclusive or not. The configuration of the stand below may look different in the photos, but you do get the same things on both version, minus the red Longinus Lance and different paint treatment.

You think Bandai doesn't take the US market seriously? It could be worse: you could be Canadian.
Bluefin's online store won't ship to Canada and there's barely anything new from Bandai Tamashii Nations on Amazon Canada anymore, other than overpriced items from third-party marketplace resellers. So I'm not holding my breath waiting for this one.

For some reason, I feel that Bluefin listing was an error. It shouldn't have gone up yet and that's why it was pulled down which what happened with the Eva-02 when it was mistakenly listed. I also have a hunch the price was a mistake. Bluefin doesn't pull down listings even when sold out. You'll see a lot of sold out products still up on their website.
Of course, my assumptions are more likely to be wrong but I can't shake that feeling. Proxying ends up cheaper at this point which is ironic but I'll keep an eye on Bluefin since they stated they'll make an official announcement with details.

Regarding to those that paid $325 from Bluefin, you bought a bundle that includes 2 EVA SD figures. Underhanded move from Bluefin to sell unwanted products.
