Battle Buffalo is definitely the most unusual of the early releases. His look is so unique and endearing, particularly the head. He's heavier than most of the rest too. Honestly I only really like the module that transforms into his head. The rest seem rather uninteresting.
If you're interested in the others, his transformation is most similar to Waruderos and Daibattles. Diattacker is still my favorite of the early Diaclones at that size scale, but he isn't a combiner.

Yeah I really like old Buffalo...he reminds me of some sort of 50's sci-fi monster.
There so many Diaclone things I'd really like to get...Dai-Battles, Big Powered, Fortress Z etc...oh and the Powered Convoy Giftset...the list goes on and on. Such a great toyline.

Yeah I really like old Buffalo...he reminds me of some sort of 50's sci-fi monster. Yes. That's it, exactly! Very Toho Studios, somehow. If you ever want suggestions, I've owned most of them at one point or another. Just going with the list you gave above: Diabattles: A very cheap version is often available on ebay. It's from the King Dam series, and is nearly the same quality, though the face details suffer a bit. Also, the drivers do not have magnetic feet. Diabattles has a great transformation, but he's a little scrappier than the rest. He also has trouble standing up on his own. Big Powered: will cost you big money...probably more than he's worth. He's one of the few I've never owned, but the pics just don't justify the $200+ that people are paying for him. Fortress X: Truly is a jewel. I truly regret selling mine. His elevator shaft features are simply stunning, as well as an endless source of amusement. Powered Convoy Giftset: You are a man of true Diaclone taste. Few people realize how much superior the giftset version of Powered Convoy was. Good luck finding one complete though I settled for the Transformers ehobby version two years ago. Not bad, but not the same.

Battle Buffalo Vs. Mothra could have been a classic Thanks for the info. Sounds like Fortress Z is the best option. Diaclone items in good condition are never easy to find at the best of times let alone something like the Powered Convoy Giftset which only appears for sale when the nine planets are in perfect alignment I recently bought a lot, inluding what seems to me some quite obscure Diaclone stuff: in it were a bundle of power bases, a pack of masks for Great Robot Base and some little guys with power suits...all really cool. Do you mainly collect Diaclone?

Yes, Diaclone is my primary focus.
I never really liked the Power Bases. They looked cool, so I grabbed them when they came around (talk about rare!), but I ended up reselling them (kept some of the small cars though). Not sure what you mean by "a pack of masks for Great Robot Base." I've never heard of such a thing. I've always wanted some Power Suits though. I've never found them cheap enough. Sounds like you found a real steal. What'd you pay? Where'd you get it?
Incidentally, it's Fortress X (not Fortress Z). It's really important to get a complete one, if you ever have the chance. The detachable arms and feet are absolutely essential to Fort X's special features. Also, the drivers are one of a kind and not to be found in any other set.
Still regretting that I sold my NM complete one...

It pains me to say so, in case I could have snagged them from Zoidstar for a song, but...
Those GRB masks are absolutely awesome. They're pretty much the rarest thing going in Diaclones. You can 'always' get a GRB or a Fort X or even a Convoy giftset (mmm chromed trailer....black sideswipe, red Mirage..). as long as you've got some big money to spend, but I've never ever seen a GRB mask for sale.
I'm with you, Shaxper, on the Power Bases. If you had hundreds you could maybe make up some kinda Diaclone town, but it'd still be pretty dumb.
The Kingdam Attacker is fun, and you're right - they never stand up - and there's a good KO of the DaiBattles too - I think it was called 'Microtron'.
Post up some pics of the GRB masks - I'd love to see 'em!

I'm still not understanding what a GRB mask is. I've never seen one in a catalogue, nor have I ever seen one mentioned on Diaclone.net or Jeroen's Diaclone page. I'm with you, Shaxper, on the Power Bases. If you had hundreds you could maybe make up some kinda Diaclone town, but it'd still be pretty dumb. That had been my assumption when I purchased a lot of them a while back. Unfortunately, they're designed so badly that they start to bend upward if you attach too many, and you can't attach one on all four sides without the risk of breaking it completely. Even attaching one on two sides can be a risky venture. I tried every creative possibility with this set and found it disappointingly limited.

Haha - I can imagine the Power Base shambles... I once got a load of TFs out and made the most enormous city with 'em - I had 3 skorponoks, 2 Overlords, numerous Super Ginrais, 3 Metroplexes, Metrotitan - anything that would go into a base mode. Pretty much filled the living room floor, but of course, didn't know what to do with it next, My son had a whale of a time, but then we got told to put it all away. Ho hum. Those GRB masks are literally masks that go over GRB's face. I swear I saw them on Diaclone Net somewhere, but maybe it was somewhere else. Pause... Hold on - here they are!!! They were on Diaclone.net. Hang on to your hat and sit down before you follow the link though. As a Diaclone Junkie, you're gonna flip! www.diaclone.net/indexmask.shtmlThey kind of remind me of Henshin Cyborg costumes...

I have a freind in Kobe who is into toys and collects all sorts of stuff but mostly tin robots...he had amassed a lot of TF's, Diaclone, Machine Robo etc. He told me what was in the lot and as far as Diaclone went he mentioned a box of masks, four sealed power bases, some warudos walkers and power suits. I paid Y10000 for the whole bunch plus shipping it was always a good deal but if those masks are as rare as you say then I'm v happy ;D Now if only I had six Great Robot Bases to dress up I'll post pics once they arrive.

Wow. I had no idea...
Zoidstar, you got quite a deal. I'd love to find ONE Power Suit or Walk Insector for that price, let alone the full lot! I've never owned a Power Suit or Walker because they've always been too expensive, but I've always wanted them.
