I am a bit hestiate about Loopaza coz I have no any shopping experience with them. I've bought Loopaza before...they are legit. Just not cheap at all. |

Wow, that's insane that all the other retailers sold out so quickly! I would have missed it again because I just saw this thread right now. Glad I just went with Luna Park to begin with. Yeah I paid $50-60 more, but I don't mind rather than deal with the hassle of trying to be lucky with one of the retailers.
Either way, I hope everyone that really wants one, finds a way to get one in the end.

Since I was searching and trying to post links here last night, here is what I saw:
- HobbySearch was instant as usual. Amiami website hanged, then sold out when page loaded. CDJapan didn't put the listing up right away, like 15-20mins or so late. Once I saw the listing, it was available, but all gone when the page slowly loaded.
- Biggest window I saw this time is HLJ (but not the case in other preorders), with listing still open for 5-10 mins, but stuck between website 502 errors. So depending on whether you catch the right moment when the site cleared to check out, you might luck out like I did. Anime-Export had second largest opening, but sold out after a min or two (at least I see the page with a clickable 'preorder' button.
- Looks like Nin-nin put up their 3rd batch (price slightly raised again) after I went to bed last night. Batch 1 & 2 gone super fast, almost instantly, with some 30-40 mins between each batch going up.
- Amazon Japan didn't seem to have any website issue (probably robust enough to deal with traffic influx), but couldn't seem to find the listing when searching. When I do like 30mins after release time, its already all gone and replaced with a jacked up price from a 3rd party shop.
- Lunapark had it listed days early, priced with a US$50-60 mark up to begin with, but readily available the whole time and a day after.
Guess we just have to get lucky, as well as picking our battles for drops like this next time. Imagine you have multiple things you want to pick up...better just pick one.

Last night at 12:00am was completely not my day. I was prepared to buy this. I was sitting in front of my ipad and had the following sites pulled up. Ami Ami, HLJ and anime export. I refreshed that page at 11:59pm starting with Ami Ami...the page was loaded and I was able to click on the preorder. When I got to the payment page...the site crashed. I immediately went to HLJ and I was also able to place the preorder...then the site crashed. I went back to ami Ami....says it was sold out. I went back to HLJ... refreshed the site a few times and it finally loaded. I got to the payment page...I had the option to use credit card or PayPal. For some stupid reasons...I selected credit card. By the time I finish entering the numbers...no more stock available. I then went to Anime export...I was able to add to cart..but I forgot to login. So after I finished logging in...they also sold out.....I learned a valuable lesson....Just go to bed and don't lose sleep over a toy...lol

The worse part is being a Macross toy, major US stores won't carry it (not for a good while, even though BigWest & Harmony Gold seem to have come to some agreement lately and things might change in the future). That limits the sources to just these few Japanese online stores to preorder. Otherwise, have to go Yahoo Japan auctions, Mandarake, or ebay (which open up more non-Japan Asian sellers, but mostly turned into scalpers with huge markup now) during release in Sept. So, the armor set comes with the extra VF-1J head (gray visor cowl). I guess that means the head of the VF-1J is interchangeable? Does it pop off? Do the heads of all of the DX valks pop off? Would buying a VF-1S and the GBP armor exclusive allow me to switch the head out and make it look like an armored VF-1J? More updates from Toysdaily: Apparently, 1A and 1J neck are the same, and their heads are a direct swap. 1S head can fit a 1J/A neck, but leave a big gap, since 1S neck is shaped different, and thicker.     |

I even need to login to complete order and my credit card confirmation didn't went through the 1st time. I was able to put one in my cart for AE as well but decided not too and gave other people a chance. Were you able to grab one? |

Looks like Amiami runs way smoother for locals, versus the crashed sites we get for internationals. There is no hiccup whatsoever... P-Bandai did stall for him, which led him to switch to Amiami. But as a local, I believe he has a lot more choices to preorder from, like the mentioned Yodobashi Camera chain (big electronics store chain that also sell toys), and probably many smaller online shops we don't have access to. Interestingly enough, Amazon Japan looks very similar to what I saw from US.  Even though the video thumbnail titled as "The battle for preordering the GBP", there was not much of a fight to begin with...unlike us, which can last 30 mins to an hour, instead of 5 mins.  |

My only wish for this set is that Bandai packages the Valkyrie in Battroid mode  For convenience sake since most people are probably getting this for the Armored VF-1J configuration anyway (like me). A lot easier to put everything back in the box too after playing around with it  But yeah, as if Bandai will shell out more money for new vac form molds, lol |
