It’s that Christmas time of the year again, and just like our gracious sovereign Queen that we have here in the UK, I feel it appropriate that I should broadcast my own special seasonal message, and in doing so elevate myself above my station in order to condescend to you all in the most verbose and pompous fashion. But you will not hear any empty rhetoric from me about peace and goodwill, for such sentiments would ring resoundingly hollow, given the prevalence of brutal and bloody conflict across the face of our troubled planet. Nor will my agnosticism allow me to dwell upon the subject of the birth of our saviour, whose blood so cruelly spilled is said to have washed away the sins of us all, because we all know he wasn’t born on Christmas day at all, despite what Harry Belafonte and Boney M would have you believe. Neither do I subscribe to the pagan mentality, which insists that the winter solstice be celebrated by growing a lengthy beard, dressing up in long robes and prancing about stone circles in a silly fashion. As for the passing of another year, I am so fast approaching middle age that the inevitable approach of the grim reaper prevents me from feeling enthusiasm. No, my brethren of fanatics for the plastic facsimiles of imagined automata, my message to you is, mercifully, less challenging to your ideological sensibilities, and of a more materialistic and self gratifying nature. For what is the charm of Christmas, if it is not the rosy glow of excitement in the faces of the children, as they anticipate the many gifts they will receive and the confectionary with which they will stuff their faces? And what are we who frequent the Robot-Japan forum, if we are not bloated, overgrown children, unable to free ourselves from the shallow obsessions of our early years? And what greater recommendation can there be for our western democratic society, than the equating of love and affection with the exchange of material possessions? What better way to demonstrate our triumph over the daily struggle to stay alive that is still faced by so many, than to pursue a hobby that is so difficult to explain or justify? I for one am disproportionately excited at the prospect of the beautiful toy robots that the lovely Mrs. Hypnotator has stashed away for me, and I hope with all sincerity that you, fellow Robot-Japan board member, get a nice robot or two in your stocking. Merry Christmas all, and a happy new year!

Thanks for posting Hypno! Don't forget to pass the joy around. There is a whole new generation of little ones. Think of a time as a little tike when you were filled with the holiday cheer and try to share that feeling with everyone.
Cheers!

As for the passing of another year, I am so fast approaching middle age that the inevitable approach of the grim reaper prevents me from feeling enthusiasm. I myself will be 35 on March 3rd. I understand your lack of enthusiasm towards getting older, but death is a destination and life is about the journey. We have to have hope and embrace the future for that is the only was we will comprehend it enough to make the critical decisions that affect us. I have never understood the fear of death. I figure that when I die my brain will cease to function, prohibiting me from thinking of the things that I never accomplished or missed out on. I simply wont care about death when I am dead so why fill my head with fear and despair when all that does if affect my life that I AM living. I feel you have a long auspicious life ahead of you. Merry Christmas Hypnotator, Maz

Only 35, Mazingkaiser? You young whippersnapper!
Please don't get me wrong about Death; he is a very good personal friend of mine. When I am dead, I shall be free of all care, but what better time to appreciate this than while I am still alive and able to do so?

Is the UK20 still going? How many members now?
Can we get a convention together where there's more than just 2 of us?
That's my Christmas wish. (Plus a small chest engine)
Merry Christmas everyone!

Hypno, Just what i was going to say, honest!
To those celebrating, have a great Christmas!
A long time since i've seen the UK20 mentioned on these boards, surely there are more than 20 people in the UK who love Cyborg + Friends (no pun intended).

The UK 20, maybe we need to list ourselves here, OK, I am not technically in the UK right now but I consider myself part of the UK 20, so I am 1 but not #1, that honour must go to another of the associates, please let yourselves be known.

The UK20 was originally a remark I made about there being probably only 20 or so of us Cyborg diehards here in the UK. Spymagician and I got meeting up a couple of times, Cybermuton couldn't make it, and we joked that it was like a UK20con or a UK2con. Next time I'm in London I'll probably meet up with ol' Spymer and maybe we'll let some of the Cyborg elite attend.
