Personally I'm skipping this because of the price point & the size just like I skipped the DX stuff & the Metal Structure Nu Gundam.
It looks incredible minus the tiny shield but space is a serious issue & I had to base my decision on my current dispaly & the rest of my preorders for 2021 & 2022 that will be effected by this Voltron.
Especially when I haven't made up my mind on backing things like the Hasbro Galactus & Rancor.
As for the debate in the earlier pages, I almost got into it with someone who was acting immature about the SOC on Instagram but I remembered how the internet works & decide not to waste my time. XD
It's natural people hype up new things especially when they look good but at the same time I don't think it's fair to just dismiss the incredible work Bandai did with the GX-71 as it stood as the definite Voltron for 5-6 years now & set the bar high for other companies even their own releases at times didn't live up to it.
So my need for a Voltron representation in my collection was met with the SOC & I haven't picked up any 3rd party versions since & I doubt I'll get future ones unless it's like an all black repaint or a drastic new take like the Sentinel designs.
Plus, paying over $700 for a figure that will do the same thing that my $300 version does is kind of redundant but that's a whole other debate that I'm having in my head about my collecting habits in general.
It's not a judgmental thing on other people since I did overpay & often succumb to the after market with some rare items.
Good luck to those who order it & hopefully it's a solid release that will meet your expectations.
Blitzway's site has a small note about a limited edition though so I don't know what's up with that.

Metal content wise, Between SOC and ET Metal Action would be nice… But Carbotix history says don’t get your hopes TOO high haha Otherwise I’d thUnk 5Prowould have proudly shown off bare naked material proto awhile ago….

since you mentioned it i really want to see how much diecast in it now
We already know its weight, about 2.3kg. That's a lot heavier than both DX Voltes (1.4kg) and DX Combattler (1.6kg) Hell, it's even heavier than larger Metal Structure Nu-Gundam (1.9kg) And when compared to the SOC Voltron, the weight increase will feel just adequate, because when our eyes see things, we see them in 2D image, so the 30% increase in height to SOC will give you an impression of about 60% size increase, which makes the 60% weight increase right on spot.
im not sure if we should consider that weight as a positive point
i have the heavy metal T28 and its weight more than this around 2.5Kg and its a hassle to play with and to pose even before putting it in the display i need to be very careful so i dont pose it wrong or it will stress the whole lower body and thats a non combiner figure, for combiners it will be a least x2 the hassle i remember toynami diecast voltron was super annoying even to stand right the stress on the blue and yellow lions heads is huge and its not as heavy as those two
another point, with this weight it will be displayed alone or it will break the glass in the detolf
for me personally i dont think any high end figure should weight more than 2KG

Preorders still open at BBTS several hours later. Hopefully whoever wants one gets one. The first release of SOC Voltron was available for weeks. I ordered a second one from BBTS after receiving my first one. People complained it was too expensive. When it sold out the same people were begging for a re-release. Then the SOC sold out immediately in re-release. |
