Hello Gang, hope everyone is doing well
So i recently opened up the Jap Limited version, i got a bit back but due to my busy schedule i didn't have time to check it out till now
Worth to mention i wasn't against this figure, in matter of fact as a collector im not against any figure or any companies in general, even when i mess with the guys regarding Riobots products, as my loyalty goes for the product it self not for the company, my main issue with this release was the price, knowing that 5Pro's figures are mediocre and the price they asking is not reasonable, so when they announced this version, the price was just right and it comes with a cool version of the blazing sword and as you know i love effect parts, so it became a must for me to get, especially when some of friends gave it a high recommendation
So here is my review for the Blitzway / 5pro Voltron
First the packaging, it was really neat almost a DX like packaging and they used alot of protective parts around each lion which was a nice touch, the photos doesn't give it justice the sculpt is really impressive and sharp in person also the size is DX SOC like as well
Before combining the lions i checked on the booklet and it was fully colored and in clear English which is always a plus in my book the details on how to combine and install the batteries were clear as well
After forming Voltron i noticed its not as heavy as i thought it will be, it was easy to handle and to play with
before moving to the accessories, i notice mine have couple of QC issues, first the red lion connection part to the black lion is extremely stiff tried to loose it up a bit, but still its not a free movement, the green lion connection part is less stiff but i noticed while moving it there is some paint chips from the movement so im not sure what's going on here, the main point in here is, this is not a 2nd release according to a friend of mine Blitzway released multiple batches in Korea so i thought by buying this it would be QC free, and this point take us back to the first point why i thought this figure is overpriced
for the accessories this release comes with
Blazing sword, which is very cheap its very thin very light and it doesn't hold right in the lion mouth (will talk about this more later)
Lightning blazing sword, its nice but its also heavy for the lion mouth
Space Cutter, nothing special about it
A screaming face plate which is very very nice
And mini figures for the pilots
Thats about it, sadly i think most of the budget went into Voltron, the accessories are not that good to be honest and they could have done it better
They included tools for LEDs and the Red/Green lions tails, they are the most useless tools in the universe, no joke
Speaking of the LEDs its the same issue all over again, its a hassle to install batteries and no easy access for the on/off button, also they are not as bright as they should be, the only one that is bright enough is Voltron head (Black Lion), worth to mention with this release you get the batteries for the Green and Red lions only, you must buy the rest and good luck finding the yellow and blue lions ones
This is the key points i encounter during my time with the figure,
Things i think they could have improved on
Red and Green lions mouths, i noticed they have put clicky ratchets joints for the wings, so why they didnt do the same for both lions mouths the sword kept falling like alot, also the edge part on the actually sword its should have a click system to really secure the sword in the lion mouth
This issue is very obvious when using the lightning blazing sword its just very heavy for the lion mouth to handle and the edge part wont do much help supporting it
There is also no attachment part for the green lion to hold on the sword end, the end part is pointy and it keeps sliding out, made me think this sword was an after thought
LEDs, all lions have this issue the batteries compartment are not easy to reach and the on/off button is also not easy to reach
There is alot of other ways to bring an easy batteries installation, like using the same method Moshow's are using
also a better on/off buttons locations, like a hidden button on the lions head
S_Gokin score
Articulation, 9/10 this by far the most highly articulated (diecast) figure for Voltron
Quality of materials, for the figure it's very high quality so its 10\10 but the accessories i give it 4/10
Paint (Finishing) 9/10 the paint is very nice in person, but for me i wish if it was a bit more metallic and much more vivid than this
Anime Accuracy 8/10
Gimmicks and features 7\10 the LED is a double-edged sword its nice but when done right, the covers for the lions legs are nice but they are still visible in some angles
Accessories, 7/10 this release comes with less accessories so im judging on what i have, the accessories are right but they are not done right
Size & dimension 10\10 in person the figure is really stunning
Weight 10/10 it's not very heavy yet its hefty in hand
Playability 10\10 with all those clicky joints the figure is meant to play with and to pose but be careful
Engineering 8\10 the idea behind the figure is good but in some parts they didn't do it right, yet its not a deal breaker i can live with it also the joints are tight, strong, and clicky
Price 10/10 for this Jap limited version the price is just right
Competitors well these days we have tons and tons of Voltron's toys not to mention the upcoming releases so there is alot of choices out there, but this one is special and i think its a must for every Voltron fan
which is even tho this is an exclusive release, there is no way to tell this is the Jap limited version the figure is identical to the original release the only thing that is extra is some words on the box and the extra blazing sword
i wish if they changed the paint a bit, a different vivid shades or even an anime color that would be truly awesome but hey its what its
