Hmm. I feel like Bandai has the VF-1 covered at this point. I'd much rather see some designs that don't get any love, dammit. Like anything from Southern Cross. Or Invid shock troops.

Probably a bleach-white VF-1J to start as usual. With Bandai seemingly really mastering this series whenever they get involved, I am unsure if I will consider...and maybe just admire from afar. The bar has been set pretty high with the DX Chogokin released so far too.

I understand why this is happening. I had posted about the licensing agreements between Big West and Harmony Gold, HG still retains the rights to SDF Macross which they market as Robotech outside of Japan. Bandai and Big West still cannot officially distribute SDFM or DYRL merch to US or EU, etc., and HG is using this opportunity to sell as much Robotech merch as possible. HG knows Bandai had the DX CHogokin VF-1 out there, but they prob also know a lot of fans have not been able to get one whether due to price or availability. Threezero has shown that they are able to make high quality figures at a reasonable price while also have tremendous distribution. Threezero figures are not hard to get/preorder (until they are eventually sold out).
Personally, I also think Bandai's DX toys are incredible. I have almost all of them but am still curious about what Threezero will bring to the table. I collect all diff scale Macross toys, so I also have HMR and the 1/60 Arcadia/Yamato, even the not as popular Kidzconcept 1/72. High chance I will pick up at least this VF-1J just to check it out.

That teaser image is not helping to sell any more toys LOL.
While I don't think I am the target audience (still have my Yamato collection, and have a few HMR & DX already), ThreeZero may hit a sweet spot for newer collectors if they bring the quality, while keeping the price low enough, similar to what they did with Robot-Dou line. Curious to see what they can come up with.

I'm curious what scale they will go with. Will it be the super saturated 1/60? People can still buy Arcadia, and some Yamatos are fairly cheap. Will it be 1/48 and challenge Bandai? I don't see this happening. I don't see 1/72 or 1/100 happening either since Kidzconcept produces one and Toynami the other, both under HG license.

www.threezerohk.com/robotech-2/1:72 VF-1J stands approximately 23cm (8”) tall and can be fully transformed between the three modes: Fighter mode, Battloid mode, and Guardian mode. Accessories will include multiple interchangeable hands as well as a GunPod and missiles.

So it's 1/55 scale at 23cm?
threezero website changed the size down to 20cm (7.8"), listing at 1/72. Though at 20cm it is actually 1/63 scale in robot mode (VF-1J is 12.68 meters).
I find this choice odd because now they are competing directly with Kitzconcept's 1/72 VF-1 toys.

Some strange stylization on this. Some joints look very similar to the Bandai DX.

They look like the mini Bandai DX! Kitzconcept is going to have a very tight 1/72 scale competition. They need to step up with their Robotech valks!

I saw these photos on IG. I love the proportions of this battloid Three Zero went silent on this figure for a long while. Thought it might turn out to be vaporware. Glad to see it again!
