Hi everyone! First post here, hoping it's the right forum So I'm currently trying to track down my first Kaiser for the collection but it didn't take me long to realize that the majority of the high-end diecast releases opted to use the design from the OVA (black limbs) instead of the Banpresto Original (patterned more after Mazinger Z with the limbs a noticeable shade of blue) that I fell in love with thanks to SRW F Final & Alpha all those years ago. My question is, are my only real options still the Max Factory or the Kawai Shokai Aoshima? Thanks in advance!

hello and welcome abroad man
as far as i know yes those are the only two close to the SRW version, i have the Max factory version and it aged well not to mention the cool accessories it comes with, and slightly better articulation than the Aoshima
i totally understand you want the SRW version, but i would like to recommend the soul of chogokin GX75 its the BEST Mazinkaiser ever made in my opinion in term of sculpt, accuracy and accessories, it have 1 issue tho the breast fire plate have a weak plastic rod that might break if you are not careful other than that its a great figure

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the answer though, and I do have to admit that the SOC Kaiser looks mighty fine! I guess I could just pick up one of the models and some paint... won't quite hit the same, though

Riobot Mazinkaiser is getting a reissue. It may not have the blue limbs you are looking for, but it is still one of the best in the market.

Hi
Welcome to the board Kenshin!!
Yeah, I’m waiting for the verdict on the breast plate rod on the upcoming re-release of SOC GX 75. I cautiously HOPE Bandai addressed it.

Thanks all! Didn't know about the Riobot, gonna have to take a hard look at that one too along with the SOC! Gotta admit though, in a hobby that loooooves repaints I'm really surprised most manufacturers passed on one that would've been cheap and simple

Welcome aboard! I share s_gokin opinion here. Max factory is a very good figure and has aged well but the SOC is the definitive mazinkaiser. Either of those will be a great addition to your collection (if you want Blue limbs I would go for the max factory). The riobot is a great figure but it far from screen accuracy, so if you are looking for a more classic aesthetic it may not be for you. If I were you I would wait for the SOC re release to be widely available to decide between that and the max factory.

Aoshima (heavy like a brick, and looks like one too ) ... SOC (Good balance clean look) ... Riobot (Badass, can beat up all the others, and the most detailed & articulated {& expensive} of them all) SOC ... MaxGokin (I don't find this sculpt aged as well as others think, but decent) ... SRC (Actually a very nice sculpt, though smaller size and less sturdy joints, mostly friction ball joints) HG Infinitism model kit (worth a look if you want to build and paint one to your liking, while still has the modern details)

Nice compare Mpchi!!
I preordered Riobot Kaiser “Repaired”
If that SOC Kaiser is “Repaired” too, I might consider it too.

Wow, thanks for the comparison pics! I think the SOC's definitely my favorite in terms of sculpt/proportions with the SRC a close second, though they all have their appeal for sure; the Aoshima and Riobot versions both look like absolute bruisers, the Infinitism version gives us a great what-if design at a super affordable price point and the Max Factory version is the only one that tried to look like this guy I'm totally spoiled for choices (colors aside) when it comes to Kaiser and I love it. What a time to be a collector.

i dont recommend picking up the Riobot for two main reasons
1. it will break in two if you move from the waist (not sure about the new version) 2. its way overpriced for what you are getting
if you love the style go for Hagane Works, its the same design but improved, more diecast and it wont break in two + a reall cool throne just like the SRW, worth to mention its shorter but thats the only down side for it
im a Mazinkaiser fan as well i have 4 so far
SOC, Max Factory, Hagane Works, and the SRC

Jokes aside, if you settled on the SOC, preorder the GX-75 SP special reissue before it runs out. It added some chrome parts and has a special stand. www.bigbadtoystore.com/product/variationdetails/186518?gclid=Cj0KCQiAi9mPBhCJARIsAHchl1y4zRGMU3Owj2JO26g-AU31w_SQ_4ucvUEEvtAvh0IPJwgxA6lwezwaAuhjEALw_wcB

That stand and figure do look mighty nice! Neat touch that it also plays Mizuki's OVA Kaiser theme (presumably anyway, though if they for some strange reason went with the one he did for SRW instead then I certainly wouldn't complain!)

Yeah, its a 20th anniversary release of the OVA, so its going to be the OVA song. However, the only Mazinkaiser song I know by heart is this one below. Had this in a SRW CD long before the OVA's existence.

Replace 'a SRW CD' with a bootleg (courtesy of Son May) copy of Legends of Mazinger and you've got my case in a nutshell

Replace 'a SRW CD' with a bootleg (courtesy of Son May) copy of Legends of Mazinger and you've got my case in a nutshell I got some Son May CDs as well, mainly out of print videogame soundtracks and a few anime ones. It was hard to track down certain legit CDs in the late 90s (which some got reprints many years later), with Son May being the only remaining source at the time. Things are very different now, when CDs became a relic, and you can audio capture any youtube videos for songs and tracks into MP3s.
