I checked D4, it’s at $250
but their FedEx shipping adds another $150USD to USA from HK….
So it’d be at least $400 for me. I prob wait for Amazon.jp. I’m thinking they’ll only charge $50 for shipping.

Very tempting, even though I was not planning to buy one. But looks like they engineered this one very well, and seeing how much diecast is used leave out a lot of guess work. Not a lot, but not too bad for Riobot standard (waist, inner hip, thighs, some joints). Would be cool if I can lock down a low price and shipping with the current Yen exchange rate. But by the time this thing comes out (looking at SRX delayed for almost a year), price may vary a lot by then when they charge my credit card months/a year later. The sensible side of me still saying I should wait and see on this one, especially when I already have a Riobot Gurren Lagann on my shelf.

Would love to see the die-cast content pic. (Can’t seem to locate it.)

im not surprised to be honest, the diecast amount is laughable for the price (as always)

Thank you Magmatron!
That’s about “Sentinel.” I think that’s about what Carbotix Getter 1 has so I’m good with it. (Maybe even more) If bottom of his feet are metal I’d be thrilled.
With metal placement on thighs, he’s going to feel good the way I hold my figures.

I love this guy... it looks great and probably it will be great to play with. I would sell my CCS one to get this one without any doubt if I could. Probably it will become the best GL out there...

OMG! bro are you still fasting ? you know Ramadan is over right ?
there is no way in the milky way or any other galaxy a fine high end line like the DX SOC could be compared to something like the Riobot line
Diecast parts include: –Volt Cruiser – Booster nozzles, Voltes’ helmet (except the nosecone) –Volt Bomber – Voltes’ shoulder joints, landing gears –Volt Panzer – Voltes’ chest plate –Volt Frigate – Voltes’ joints, landing gear, dorsal thigh plates –Volt Lander – All the red sections
DX Voltes V is 1462 Grams, while the DX Combattler is 1635 Grams the different between the two is 173 Grams, its not a huge different not a big deal, its a fact Combattler is heavier but Voltes v is better articulated so take some give some
the diecast amount in GL is just sad typical with this line, what about the chest, the feet, the helmet, the wings, come on ! how come this is a $260 ? should be half of that

With current yen exchange rate, this GL can be had for $230 + shipping. Just need to find a place you can lock down the price (exchange rate, probably means pay in full now instead of charging you upon release) with decent shipping cost, if you intend to pull the trigger eventually. The transformation is pretty well engineered, if you look at the other photos showing you how the limbs expand, the neck flips 180 for inserting the head, while keeping proportions really accurate. Can't ignore that. This thing is slowly winning me over. I think both you guys are exaggerating a bit. DX Voltes sure has more diecast proportionally to GL, but the days of paying just around $130 for something this intricately engineered combiner/transformer in this size and license are also long gone. Even Bandai's HMR L-Gaim is getting close to $200, with similar size & diecast, but zero combination gimmick.

We are getting the really nice, but also very simple Daitetsujin 18 for 130usd, nearly no die cast, a good but basic articulation and no transformation gimmick. So not even bandai, with lower manafuctaring costs and in a not so wellknown character, can give you that for 130usd... Sentinel has always been overpriced (about 30%), but you can complain if you know what you are getting. It is obvious you are not into Sentinel S_gokin. I have many of their figures and have never ever regretted getting them, they are all awesome, the engineering is top notch (may be they should improve their generic stand). They tackle many rare stuff (I usually get this from them, like ZOE, Knights of sidonia, Magic Knight rayearth, evaxgodzilla) and have many unique takes on classic stuff (their go nagai stuff is great, I like them but I dont double dip, so I stay with the classics). Other than that their getter line has some of the best designs and articulation. Black getter robo, shin getter, getter devolution they are incredible figures. I have their Shin getter, the one you say it breaks, and has never broken and hasnt fallen apart either. It has great articulation and its a cool mix between classic and redesign, also has a very nice heft. Until the CCS shin getter came out it was the best shin getter in the market. You may not be their target audience but you can deny how cool their stuff is, they have pushed forward engineering, CCS toys and Pose+ for example are following their footsteps.

there is no way in the milky way or any other galaxy a fine high end line like the DX SOC could be compared to something like the Riobot line Emphasis on proportionally. You're directly comparing the weight of a bulky 14 inch tall figure to a slender 8 inch tall figure. Both have metal joints, so they're equal in that area. Gurren has fully metal thighs, while only the front half of the thighs on Voltes are Die-cast, since the back half is plastic in order to accommodate the gimmick. Gurren has metal in the front of the abdomen, while the front of Voltes chest is die-cast. The main area where Voltes beats Gurren is having metal feet, since the feet on Gurren are plastic, probably to help it with flight poses. Voltes does have a bit of die-cast in the helmet, as well as the metal landing gears, but don't think the later matters too much.

no doubt, but still incomparable to the DX
the jump in price for some companies (now) are justifiable with COVID and the increasing price of the materials, but with other companies its been like that since day one, Riobot Mazinkiaser was $300 in an era of reasonable prices, its their technique ask more for less

Daitetsujin 18 is hardly a $100 but even if it was $130 i still see it a good price, Daitetsujin 18 is more like an add on and you know how Bandai treat those kind of figures
im really not sure if you played enough with Shin Getter 1, they used better quality plastic than the poor one they used in Mazinkaiser, so it wont break it will pop out and it will be hard to put back in again,
photo from Gokin.it
its a famous issue, there was a guy who made some parts for so it wont happen again
for the best Shin Getter 1, it depends on the person for me i still think the EX Gokin is the best
i still think both CCS and Pose+ are better and incomparable to Riobot, due for the simple facts, you get what you paid for in term of a high quality products, decent size and durability

you bought the DX Voltes into a comparison not me bro
Ive already mentioned the diecast parts of Voltes in my post, like i told you there is no comparison of any sort between them, also the excuse of having ton of plastic for better articulation is a LIE look at what Mosho is doing
i think if companies could count screws and magnets parts as metal then it should be okay for Bandai to count landing gear as metal as well

General comments in the video: - Very nice and clean execution, especially on the transforming head unit. - Main body actually has some heft. Not super lightweight like some other Riobots. - Good amount of diecast used in major joints (elbows, hip, knees, shoulder joints too), even the whole inner hip that mount all the hip skirts are mostly diecast. There is also some under the feet. - Joints are sturdy and tight. Articulation range is very good. (Noticed fingers are articulated) - Nice touch on movable upper chest panel, for the big face to have different expressions on the eyebrows. - Head is tricky to lock at neck joint. Suggest to remove the face plate when combining in case you get the chin scratched by accident. - Very nice paint with no flaws, figure fully painted. - Felt that Sentinel improved on execution, feels very good in hand with no looseness. - A satisfying buy, if you don't mind the price.

i was just talking to the guys about this, the major turn off for me was the blue eyes shadow (blue paint under the eyes) its too much i know they tried to be accurate but this is waaay to much

But, but... A more thorough review in Mandarin, let you see the transformation and structural detail better. And for those feeling nostalgic, the same reviewer also did one on the original Riobot GL, the Magnum Opus of Sentinel from 2012. It is still crazy good in today's standard!
