GL being one of my favorite modern mecha animes, I cannot tell you how much I am anticipating this combining GL. I had dreamed of owning the Halfeye version but the resin aspect always made me worried in addition to the insane aftermarket price of it. Now we have a diecast ABS figure, I am beyond excited. Cannot wait to get this in hand and check it out.

Mine has shipped from Amazon.jp. I’ll try to post some pics as soon as I can. Excited to actually own a GL with a transforming head. 😜 Only have the previous Riobot stylized one and the SRC. Missed out on the Konami and Studio Half Eye ones.

But, but...
lol this is the exact same pic GetterBoi showed me in FB
i know and i understand but the way the did was abit over to be honest, also if you compare the pic you shared to the 4:20 from the clip you will have a better understanding for my point
im not saying its not accurate im saying they over did it, in term over how bright the color is and the size, made it looks like GL was up partying all night lol

Me thinks in hand it won't bother you so much it's so small. It's zoomed in video, but look how small it is. Would be hard to paint a tiny blue line so it's slightly thicker than the drawing, but when looking at the combined GL, honestly I don't even notice the slight excess.

But if I have to nitpick, the eye shape (yellow part) is not exactly accurate, a bit too round and lose some definition/shape the anime has. Better on the optional faces with different eye expression. But like GetterBoi was saying, it is going to be so small in person, it is not a big deal. Accurate or not, it still looks good as is.

What do you guys think about this GL Sentinel version versus the pending Bandai SOC release? I know we don’t have an SOC copy yet to make a fair comparison but do you expect that the SOC will be better or worse than this one? Based on the preliminary reviews and photos, I think this Sentinel model is amazing but, knowing that Bandai’s version is imminent, maybe we should wait to see what the SoC is all about? I have the Konami version, which was the greatest representation of GL until now. Ughh. What version/release are you all going to choose?

Going by history of the 2 companies I can confidently say- Bandai's version will be heavier but less articulated.

Otherwise, not impressed by the sculpt and finish on what Bandai showed. And while I love more diecast, it is not a high priority as long as the figure executed well.

I think that's the black hole that collecting does is that there will always be another that becomes better. With rapid prototyping, these toys are coming out of the woodwork like crazy. My guess is that not far down the line there will be an option parts set for this guy... Im probably gonna be down for the SOC version too.... just hope SOC gets their quality up more to compete with the newer brands...

Got mine from Amazon Japan today (in Canada). I took a quick look at it and it looks like a winner to me.
A lot of plastic, but it doesn't feel or look cheap. Nothing flimsy or floppy. Sturdy. Even that tiny little Lagann isn't scary to handle. It doesn't feel like its limbs will snap off the instant you push them the wrong way. (I'd still be careful with it, though.)
It's quite anime-accurate as it is, but there are two parts that I feel could have been made better:
1. The golden "hip skirt", that is still too visible tucked away behind its "butt flap" in Gurren mode. Could be solved by removing them. And maybe you actualy can do that. I haven't tried, but didn't see it in the manual.
2. The feet. Gurren's feet are supposed to be shorter than Gurren Lagann's. The simple solution would have been alternate feet parts, if collapsible feet couldn't be done (or wouldn't look good). But I'm nitpicking, here. It looks fine. If I had not been looking at images of the anime to check how accurate it is, I'm not sure I would have noticed that Gurren's feet are a bit too large.

Guys got mine today and been just playing with the main figure for couple of hours.
The first impression.
It’s HEAVY. A TON of metal inside. External metal wise, upper legs, part of bottom of his feet, lower back is METAL. He feels quality. A TRUE REAL Tamashii Quality!! Solid and heavy, premiere figure. Paint is FLAWLESS. Lots of “transforming” gimmick. Feels SOLID with no loose joints. He can withstand and pass “shake” test. He’s what Metal Build strive to be…Just exemplary.
At $250, he’s well worth it…I’d honestly LOVE to see Bandai surpassing this figure at a similar price.

Yeah, being "heavy" is very rare from Riobot, but its a common comment on the reviews and feedback from those that got their hands on it. Nice to hear from RJ folks confirming the heft. Looking forward to get mine.

Just got mine today, and wow I'm actually impressed with this sentinel's riobot release as most of their previous releases were not as heavy. I have the konami release from back in the days and while it is not as heavy as that release this one feels really good in hand given the level of articulation and actual combiner gimmick that the Konami nor CCSToys can achieve. The inclusion of simon and kamina mini figs is a nice touch. Bandai has their work cut out for them if they want to beat this release I feel as I don't think their previous SOC releases can achieve the same level of articulation as this one.

I took a break from some inventory work to snap a few shots of my Gurren Laganns with my cell phone, to compare this new Riobot with some older releases. So here they are in their brown paper glory. From left to right: - Konami Great Impact
- Sentinel Riobot (5th anniversary)
- CCS Toys
- Bandai Super Robot Chogokin Anti-Gurren Lagann
- Sentinel Riobot combining Gurren and Lagann (15th anniversary)
And another one without the kids in the way:
