Damn you bandai LOL I do like the fact that GX-70 & 70D, work as a nice pair if you want to have some SOC battle damage action. Kind of rare for a SOC, and pretty affordable too a while back. Wonder if they'll do the same for GX-105 with a 105D.

Most of my toys when growing up all became "damaged" versions so no need to pay when I could really do it myself...lol

AS I have the rule one mecha, one toy. I will be sticking myself to my GX01 40th anniversary. I love it and I'm really happy with it. I don't feel the need of updating my mazinger... The 40th anniversary GX-01R is a great piece. Probably the Maz I'd pick if I could only keep one. I still love the simple-but-brilliant way the scrander wings sweep back. I do like the fact that GX-70 & 70D, work as a nice pair if you want to have some SOC battle damage action. Kind of rare for a SOC, and pretty affordable too a while back. Maybe a char-broiled repaint to recreate its fight with Garada and Doublas?

It literally got torn apart just like GX-70D, only to have Great Mazinger shows up in the nick of time to save Koji (which is Great Mazinger's first appearance, and the movie serves as a transition/prequel of Great Maxinger's TV show). GX-70D is pretty much the recreation of that scene, even the 2 sword accessories, which the double Mazingers used to defeat the enemies at the end.

I'm just talking about what they could do with GX-105, the TV series version.

Mazinger Z was damaged real bad in the TV series final episode too: Ah, that did happen in the series! I had forgotten. All these years I had thought I must have seen the movie even though I remembered things happening a bit differently.

The GX-105 looks a beefed up GX-70! I only have the GX-01 GX-01 Black and SRC Mazinger! Happy to have the GX-70 or GX-105 if I can snag it at a reasonable price! Tempting! www.1999.co.jp/eng/10895038

Just got my GX-105 today. Pictars later.
As such, talk about economizing, Bandai's new SOC box for this latest Malibu Stacy variant is a bit shocking in the size and dimension department:
About equal the size of my recent EZ-8 Robot Damashii box.
It is quite a slim but sturdy box, tho. Just like my HM-R VF-0S box.
I reckon it's prolly really close to a typical SRC box of old.
Very sparse accessories this time, but we've known that already.
New shiny and all, but feels a bit even more overpriced than GX-70 for a SOC...

More efficient box sounds so good to me as I’m running out of space for boxes.
Also I’m an oddball who PREFERS sparse accessories so this sounds like it’s right up my alley!
Thank you for the heads up Treament.

On the other hand, all the options and accessories I never use feel wasteful somehow. I always end up putting all the stuff I never use in separate storage boxes. It’s admittedly weird, but it’s like a psychic weight off my shoulders not to see all those unused parts inhabiting the same space as my robots. I’m not getting this Maz cause I’m not too keen on the style and proportions, but I appreciate the bare-bones nature of the release and love the execution of the launching fists gimmick. I'm curious to see how this release will be compared to other SOC Mazingers ten years on when we have the benefit of hindsight.

Jiang, Taiwanese teacher and also hobby designer proposed new belly plate for GX-105 (he already sold different upgrades for SOCs like the Voltron diecast thighs) When torso is fully in backward position, there is a gap :/ (what the hell Bnadai !) New belly plate is longer and curved on the top edge to give better aesthetic. On the left the original piece. BOOO Bandai, BOOOOO !

Thanks for the heads up Lejam. But Oof, the sculpt on the bottom of that fist look “weird” too..(How’d that get approved…) Yeah, never noticed until now. Kind of like toys of the 80s and 90s where they didn't bother to sculpt all the individual fingers and just hinted the shapes. So far this release seem to be not as well received in HK, as many complained about the toy "devolved" rather than "evolutionary" as stated in the promo (parts swap for wings, missing accessories, no display stand, no styrofoam, common articulation designs but labeled as revolutionary...etc.). Even the price is going down in various local HK shops I heard, indicating not selling well there. Personally, I just didn't care that much for the new change (or lack there of), when I already have GX-70 & 70D. I can see it being more well received if GX-70 didn't exist (still quite easily found at good price too).

I think you can only milk the mazinger variations only so much because these minute changes dont always fare well with collectors.... Bandai needs to up their game so much more and its sad when you see their packaging has even devolved vs the older SOC...
