Yeah, never noticed until now. Kind of like toys of the 80s and 90s where they didn't bother to sculpt all the individual fingers and just hinted the shapes. So far this release seem to be not as well received in HK, as many complained about the toy "devolved" rather than "evolutionary" as stated in the promo (parts swap for wings, missing accessories, no display stand, no styrofoam, common articulation designs but labeled as revolutionary...etc.). Even the price is going down in various local HK shops I heard, indicating not selling well there. Personally, I just didn't care that much for the new change (or lack there of), when I already have GX-70 & 70D. I think you can only milk the mazinger variations only so much because these minute changes dont always fare well with collectors.... Bandai needs to up their game so much more and its sad when you see their packaging has even devolved vs the older SOC... Might help if they tone it down a bit on the promotion slogans and just advertise it as a more budgeted but more articulated GX-70 variant. Seriously, a non-collector would have a super hard time distinguish between the two (aside the elbow joints, and the belly panel seam).

Let's not forget that during periods of high inflation, there is also "Shrinkflation."
Shrinkflation happens when consumer products get smaller in weight, size or quantity while their prices stay the same or even increase. Quality may suffer too.

Thanks for the heads up Lejam. But Oof, the sculpt on the bottom of that fist look “weird” too..(How’d that get approved…) Part of the issue is as there is clamor and/or demand and/or appeasement of trying to get a literal physical 3D toy to match a relatively 'crudely' drawn circa 1980s cartoon...well...yeah. This is what makes my head hurt a bit in the other side of my collecting segment: Transformers. It's just goofy. Anyways, just my 2 cents. I could be the minority here.

ok. While we're all waiting on Gold's and RPA reviews, here be my thoughts on GX-105 after messing around more with it... The good:
- GX-105 figure is really what GX-70 figure should have been in the first place.
- Quite the proper successor to the GX-45 figure.
- Incorporates the nice pull-out thighs and ankle externder stuff from GX-45.
- The rocket-punch firing gimmick since GX-01 is finally back again and nicely innovated.
- Very nicely and properly articulated
The not-so-good: - No Iron Cutters. WTF?!
- No Drill missile elbow-thingy.
- No more usual SOC stand-storage and Scrander catapult.
The odd: - This GX-105 likes to easily show his belly-button due to the torso-extend/missile-punch feature.
All in all, I like him alot better than GX-70, which is rather a low-hanging fruit easy since I was never that fond of GX-70 due to Bandai's gimmicks-removals and other nickel-n-diming shenanigans with it. GX-105 figure is a worthy successor to the legendary GX-45.
As such, I'll be shocked, SHOCKED, I TELL YAH! when Bandai does their usual nickel-n-dime tactics again for us to get the Iron Cutters and SOC stand and stuff for additional 9000y. PBandai/TWE only, too.

In all my SOC collecting, I think I only own two SOC Mazinger Z - the 40th anniversary edition and the one that turns into a fist.
It's been a while since I've bought anything, so I wouldn't mind buying this Maz with Garada and Doublas (if it ever goes back in stock).

In the promo pictures, the Pilder windshield is blue. In the pictures that members here are posting, it's clear. Is that right? I personally like clear better.
There is a hint of blue-tinting on the canopy/windshield, but it's quite very faint and subtle.
Bandai seems to either doctor the saturation-levels way up on their promo pics. Otherwise, the blue-tint is really very barely noticeable and shows a mostly clear canopy instead.
Here's a couple of extra shots last night where I upped the saturation-levels to try to show the blue-tint ala Bandai promo-pics:
Think I was trying to focus on the Koji figure inside on those pics above, so some expected softness and slight bokeh'ing...

Ok. Finally found my GX-XX01 set. As expected in comparison to their respective GX-105 parts, the GX-XX01 Maz arm-parts were a bit thinner and smaller, and the Hover Pilder is smaller, non-articulated, and do not have a pilot-figure. Also, the GX-105 Rocket Punch gimmick and fists are newer, so the GX-XX01 RPs are incompatible to it. The pics I took are posted at TFW-forum below:

I finally caved in and got what appears to be a single pre-order that had become available today at BBTS. I just love that Hover Pilder with the clear canopy and little Kouji inside.

You need 2 Kabuto Kojis to make that happen.

come on man, autopilot or even his little brother will do just fine lol
call me crazy but overall i think the GX-01R is still untouchable the GX-70 is great but its too skinny for my taste the GX-105 is also great but comes with almost nothing and im not a huge fan of those lines in the arms could be done in a better way
as a Mazinger z fan im happy and i want more lol

Too bad I only have the GX-01, not the 01R. But I agree, from a toy standpoint, GX-01R has everything, and still love the Scrander wings engineering, regardless not being slim or anime accurate. It is just fun to play and pose, instead of taking the wings apart and plug them back in reverse. But I have to tell myself, I am not building a Mazinger Z army. A couple is good enough (2 versions of SOC, 1 MB), and move on to the cooler Maz variants (CCSToys Great Mazinkaiser, for example).

I agree, I only have GX-01R (and I preordered GX-105 at BBTS), and I never needed another Mazinger, Gx-01R is a great Mazinger, and you can live with "just" that one in your collection.

Is GX-105 D.C.-compatible? I'm curious if it can use the Project XX weapons, but it looks like the rocket punch gimmick means the arm connections will be different. Or are they?
