I think its an illusion because the gunbuster crotch plate is hanging downward more, giving the appearance of shorter legs... lol

Never heard of him. Pass. You really have no idea.  This show is very influential on the whole robot anime genre in the late 80s, when robot anime is declining in Japan. One of Hideaki Anno's early directoral work before Evangelion, the magnum opus of Gainex studio, which spawned a lot of talent that later brought us landmark robot shows like Evangelion and Gurren Lagann. And most important of all, the pioneer of bouncing anime boobies.     |

This'll probably be the Gunbuster you display combined, with the GX-34 ships next to it. The GX-34s thighs are skinny to facilitate combining.
