I agree it is awesome to see the robotics and everything at work on our favorite characters, but it another money grab.
Optimus was impressive, yet not a gotta have it. It’s impressive for the ability to do everything that it did. But the price and market were badly judged as the price was too high. You saw the initial release was move to $1000 and then a smaller versions (by2-3 in) was made. This one at $750.
No we have this Grimlock. While ago a being very cool to see, still not from the collectors standpoint. I can see this being only in a few collectors. I’ll enjoy the photos from everyone and watch the YouTube videos, but otherwise I’ll have the $1500 - $1700 for this and spend it elsewhere.

I bought the Flagship Prime, and I am getting the Flagship Grimlock. Yes they are pretty expensive but I do think for what you are getting it's not outrageous. These are fairly complex toys and if you like playing with the programming for the motion control they are pretty fun.
There is a market for sure (like me) but yes it's going to be very niche.

While this is not for me, it is very impressive after seeing a recent demo on ToysTV on a Prime, with a spokeperson showing you can customize and record any motion sequence you want, by just posing the figure (literally), while hitting 'record' button on your phone or tablet. Not just a few preset animated motion and simple dialogue of cheaper electronic toys. It really raises the bar of electronic interactive toys like never before seen.
