I find the aesthetics is quite strange on this one. MP G1 stuff lends itself well to capture anime accuracy, because the shapes and designs are so simple (primitive even). But not sure if that fits on this guy, having the more late 80s early 90s design with more shapes and details going on. Then I googled some of the 3rd party Super Ginrai for comparison, and the MPG-09 seems to be too simple and odd. It has the simple look of the 80s, but it doesn't have the 80s toy proportions. It looks more modern in a sense, yet it pales in comparison to the more modern takes from other 3rd party attempts while leaning more to the cartoon look, but without the 'spot on' feel from previous MPs that went that route, MP-44 for example. An odd feeling I get from this release, feels out of place aesthetically IMHO. Maybe this is really for very hardcore TF fans that has a very particular taste or looking for a very niche aesthetics. Don't know.

I am surprised Takara is not taking a stab at their more 'iconic' combining characters like the Constructicons. Sure, there are heaps of options in the 3rd-party market of Devastator but still, it was a surprise they went with Raiden first -- though, I'm not complaining (though, I have left in my AE POL before I have them all and can open and combine them for the first time).
I mean, Ginrai is neat and all but we have enough Primes.

Apparently MP-60 will be the last Masterpiece under that brand and going forward it will all be under the MPG name. So far the MPG has been on the smaller size compared to the MP line so I wonder just how big this figure actually is.

Maybe we need more pics and angles but I find Takara-Tomy's rendition not as good as the 3rd-party release by Fans Hobby? Or is it just me?

I was under the impression the MPG was only for Combiners, the G stood for "Gattai" apparently. I think it would be a shame for the Masterpiece line to end before we got like at least a Galvatron and maybe Cyclonus/Swoops. I wonder if Masterpiece is just not selling at the current price point and they are looking to lower it, considering the price of Raiden and God Ginrei that doesn't seem like it but it's about all I can think of.
