I’m really considering pulling the trigger on this one. I have owned the chogokin versions of 74 and sold those off when I got the larger x-plus vinyl 25cm figure. This DX version is larger (27cm) than the previous chogokin (22cm) release plus it has lights and sounds. Basically a poor man’s RC Mechagodzilla which is basically my holy grail that I will never be able to obtain. What are other people’s thoughts on this new figure?

If I wasn't already satisfied with the Tamashii Mix Poster Mechagodzilla 2 I'd be very tempted to buy this. Honestly the temptation is still there.

7 days later its still wildly available didnt sell out didnt even enter the top selling items list at any online store and yet you will find people saying its a very popular release and have an overwhelming "iconic" status over Grendizer
tiny comparison the GX-76SP sold out in matter of seconds, a repaint of an old release not even a brand new release
money talks not feeling

Amazon Japan already put a 9% discount to it, still not sold out. This does not belong to DX SOC.

I am absolutely looking forward to this figure. Saying it hasn’t sold out when other more obscure figures have means nothing. You don’t know how many are produced. Godzilla has wider world wide appeal and is most likely produced at higher numbers. The last SOC Mechagodzilla is amazing. Bandai is not going to lose any money on Godzilla.
I had to look up GX-76 because I didn’t know what it was and have never seen it at retail. My local comic shops did carry the Voltron, Megazord and the Godzilla figures from the SOC line but no others. So that most likely indicates that those figures with wider appeal are produced at higher numbers.

wider world wide appeal ? come on man even at stores with pay later option it still didn't sell out anywhere after what 11 days now ? i don't see any appeal at all for example the DX Mazinger z and DX Voltes v sold out very fast, that indicate huge fan base and true world wide appeal
to be fair this release achieved something that none of the previous DX SOC releases managed to do .. which is been wildly available everywhere for more than 2 days after the preorder started
key point the DX SOC line is about limited runs & limited numbers, so im sure the quantity is limited
and you think Grendizer is obscure ? fun fact my friend just because you dont know a robot or your local store didnt carry it goods, doesn't mean its obscure or unknown
Grendizer is one of Go Nagai's most famous works world wide, its a part of the Mazin Saga and it was in many SRW games, cherry on the top if you google "the largest metal sculpture of a fictional character" you will see its Grendizer
last point, almost one year later the SOC Godzilla is also still available in some stores (with a discount)
on the other hand even with couple of reissue the SOC GX-76 price increased by at least $140, the upcoming SP version sold out within a few minutes after the PO started
so there is no comparison regarding which character with a bigger fan base and more demand, numbers don't lie
at the end i have nothing against this release, happy for those who wanted one, but i dont think its the right choice for the next DX project or it will have a stronger demand than a DX Grendizer

to keep the other thread on topic, i will reply to those who quoted there in here
the guys already replied to you so there is nothing for me to say
but regarding your 2nd post,
its not the same height as the GX-103, the GX-103 is 23cm while this DX is 27cm im sure its a bigger scale as well
also the base are not the same

-i didnt say its not popular or iconic, all i said its not hot item
-i see a figure that failed to sellout comparing to other DX SOC figures and other SOC figures, same case with the GX-103 which still wildly available 1 year later (with a discount)
-Voltes was available but was it for the same price ? come on i was there the price was at least $700 others asked $1k
-here i think you are quite mistaken, the DX Mazinger R sold like lightning, the remaining stock are overpriced you know it i know it and the aliens knows it, why they asked more in both Mazinger z and Voltes ? because the demand is crazy for those two
-last point is a wrong reading, they released Metal Structure Sazabi and it sold out fast, every time i see one on the 2nd look its sold out
-the main issue here you guys think that because something is popular or old it will sell out and it will be a sought after release, while the info in hand tell us a different story
