We are proceeding at 83 parsecs to the Grey Mist Planet, to the last known co-ordinates of Micro Cyborg Force One. It is believed that he fell victim to an attack by Walder aliens at this location. It is our mission to appropriate his remains, and also to deal with any Walders we encounter. Little is known about these aliens, except that they are malevolent. With our bodies fused from pure diamond and our handsome features based on the likeness of Ken-Ichi, the founder of our proud race, and armed with the Cybo-Invader, our intergalactic starship with devastating speed and firepower, it is hoped that we will meet with more success than our predecessor.
Micro Cyborg Force Three and I have located the remains of Micro Cyborg Force One on the surface of the Grey Mist Planet and are about to disembark from the vessel in order to examine them. Walder proximity sensor readings are negative.
“My God, those Walder vermin have butchered him, Micro Cyborg Force Two!”
“Affirmative, Micro Cyborg Force Three. More force and brutality was employed than was necessary to dispatch our predecessor, but that may be characteristic of Walder attack. It is worth taking note, because any Walder propensity for zeal and overkill can possibly be used against them. Do you have any other observations?”
“His atomic engine and brain – they’re missing. Those brutes! Wasn’t it enough for them to hack him to pieces? I’ll rend their stench-ridden hides!”
“Stay focused, Micro Cyborg Force Three. The engine and brain have very possibly been kept as some kind of sick trophy. However, they may have been acquired for a more pragmatic purpose.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I’m really not sure, but the engines in our chests that power us provide one of the most efficient atomic energy sources in the known universe, and the computing power housed in our atomic brains is unrivalled, to my knowledge. The level of advancement of the Walders’ technology is unknown, although it is assumed to be inferior to our own, but they are might be resourceful enough to learn and appropriate from our technology. For this reason, we must get the stolen parts back. Fortunately, the beacon device housed within Micro Cyborg Force One’s atomic engine should lead us to its location and the Walders who destroyed him.”
Tracing the beacon device has led us to this asteroid. The signal appears to emanate from an within. Mass readings of the asteroid are inconsistently low, it would appear to be hollow; it also registers very high readings for organic material; this is possibly home to a very large number of Walders.
Following discussions with my second in command, Micro Cyborg Force Three, we have decided that the prudent course of action is to blast our way into the asteroid core, taking out as many Walder scum as we can in the process.
We have blasted a hole big enough and we are entering the interior of the asteroid.
“Do you wish to make any observations, Micro Cyborg Force Three?”
“Euurgh! The asteroid is full of guts! And the stink! Why the heck have they filled this place with pulsating offal, Micro Cyborg Force Two?”
“If you find the smell distracting, disable your olfactory function, Micro Cyborg Force Three. All this organic material accounts for the readings. Don’t forget to bring the Cybo-bazooka.”
“That damn thing is so heavy! Why do I have to carry it?”
“Don’t be insubordinate, Micro Cyborg Force Three. I shall be operating the Cybo-leg-attachment-sensor which connects to my leg portal. Hmm… according to the readings, these internal organs are alive in some way.”
We have entered a chamber within this extraordinary asteroid that is difficult to describe, but above us are huge gas sacks which, according to readings from the Cybo-leg-attachment-sensor, are capable of expelling gas at high velocity out to the exterior, acting as a propellant.
“You mean they can sail this asteroid around like a ship?”
“Affirmative, Micro Cyborg Force Three. It literally farts its way through space. According to sensor readings, the system is efficient enough to match the speed of our own craft.”
“In the name of decency, Micro Cyborg Force Two, is there no limit to this mockery of science? We must blast this asteroid into particles!”
“Be patient, Micro Cyborg Force Three, we will do just that, after we have secured the atomic engine and brain, or at least neutralised them so that the enemy cannot use them.”
We have ascended to another level via an oesophagus-like tunnel. The pulsating light emanates directly from the giant organs. This new chamber contains our first glimpse of the enemy. There are Walders all over the walls.
It appears that the Walders inhabiting this vessel are in a state of suspended animation. The hibernating Walders are infused with oxygen, nutrients and heat energy from the vessel whilst in this state, which they can store for long periods, enabling them to function in any environment, even a vacuum, when they are active. Fortunately, their present dormant state gives us an opportunity to neutralise them all.
We have at last located the stolen components of Micro Cyborg Force One. The atomic engine and brain have been incorporated with the organic technology of the Walders. It is not clear to what purpose.
“By all that’s sacred, Micro Cyborg Force Two, what kind of abomination are the Walders engineering here? They’ve spliced his brain and engine into their stinking intestine machines! Wasn’t it enough to destroy him? Did they have to defile his remains with their putrid offal?”
“Micro Cyborg Force Three, I must ask you to suppress your emotive systems in order to tackle the matter in hand with optimum efficiency. We must destroy the remains of our colleague immediately, and then proceed to eliminate the remaining hibernating Walders before we return to our ship and blast this asteroid with maximum….. Aaaargh!”
This is Purple Walder reporting to the Walder Overmind. The hated artificial enemy has infiltrated our vessel just as we anticipated, following the bait provided by their defeated predecessor. The curious metallic technology we extracted from the first artificial being has served us well, despite its repellent, metallic nature. By connecting it to standard biocomponents, connected to the umbilicus of our organocomplex, we have succeeded in enhancing the energy levels and psychic abilities of one of our number beyond expectations.
In the resultant exponential feedback of energy, this Walder’s size has increased fivefold and his cranial capacity has been enhanced tenfold. He is now able to generate enough psychic power to immobilise the artificial intruders and deactivate their artificial life force purely by thinking about it. I am proud to report that once again, superior Walder tactics have defeated the hated artificial enemy. Hail the Walder Overmind!
