Yup pretty much what it says on the box. I'm sort of awaiting Bandai's GX-48 reissue but I'm also shocked by recent jpy pricing for new items over all as well as GSC QA issues on some releases in the past. So I was just wondering whether any of you guys have informed opinions. Like how either is holding up on the shelf since some years etc.

Both soc and the GSC are back in their boxes so I wouldn't know on the QC in how they're holding up but I know when I handled them a while back I liked the GSC version more than the SOC...

Well I just own the SOC gx48 kuroganne finish and I must say is great. Great sculpt, nice heft, tons of accessories, very articulated by its time. It's one of those SOC that you realize has a lot of love into it. It has great details, and it even comes.with a booklet/instructions. Never ever regretted getting it.

I only had the base release SOC Big O, but it's pretty good. Articulation isn't what we expect now but at the same time Big O wasn't really the most acrobatic mecha. If you can find the kuroganne finish it will be a good get, since the paint job is spectacular and I think it came with the bonus parts.
The Max Gokin seems like a great release as well, especially the forged look they gave it rather than being smooth like the SOC. It's also huge and has a decent number of accessories, thkugh not arm cannons. The The problem with it, other than being very expensive now, is that long term the mechanism for the car launcher breaking, and the rubber joints used in the joints tearing. The later I've seen in many used copies.

I have both the original release GX-48 (without the option parts, unfortunately) and the much larger Max Gokin. They’re both great but really in different leagues and don’t compare with one another easily. If you’re a big BigO fan, I’d definitely recommend the big Max Gokin - it’s beautiful. Check out the archived Collection DX review it you can find it. It’ll give you a good idea of what to expect. I have displayed both figures in a case since I received them (8+ years now? 10?) and they both still look great.

thanks for the replies. Thinking of getting a max used one with rubber problems as I am assuming that is almost unavoidable.

I had both, but I think I preferred the SOC a bit more, I certainly had it on display longer. The Max Gokin was beautiful, but as others have mentioned, the rubber casing around the joints began to fray and tear and the joints got pretty floppy, but it still looked great. SOC just felt more solid even though it was smaller. I'm planning on picking up the SOC Kurogane at some point to fill the hole in my collection, unless Bandai does a Metal Build or CCSToys, Flame Toys, or Pose+ try it.

I’ve got both the SOC and Max factory Big O. I love them both, but the max factory one is a shelf hog. I’m selling my max factory Big O if anyone is interested. DM me.
