greetings. after lurking for the last couple months on and off, i finally signed up. i'm a 36 year old father of 3. ive picked up collecting again this past year after a lifetime of moping about my childhood toys that have been lost in time. mostly, we collect godzilla and his foes. these toys are best built for my kids to play with also. its only more recently that i had found out about the cyborgs which i absolutely love. i had micronauts as a child and this is the fulfillment of those larger dreams. hahahaha. anyways, thanks for your advise and teutalage over the last few months even though it was unwitting. i'm expecting a package today from super seven of the BLACK RIOT suit and the clear blue exohead. stoked. also, i've heard much griping about the non jointed dukuro, satan, plant man reissues. these make awesome toys for kids that you may want to share your "adult" hobby with. hahahaha.thanks for your time and i hope that i can add something to your community.

Nice to have you aboard XBorg! Glad to see there are still new people rediscovering Cyborg and Micronauts! Surely you have discovered the 3 3/4" and 12" Godzilla suits by this point.
When you know what you want and are looking for something in particular, just let us know and we'll shoot you enough links to get you into trouble.
Cheers, Guy

XBorg, I don’t know how tight a budget you are on, but since you have a new outfit on the way, this info might prove useful. If you ever need bodies for your costumes, Here is a Link to where you can obtain $20-$25 bodies. www.junkyspot.com/Obitsu Bodies are what most Japanese collectors tend to use and the Obitsu body is the body that the Clear version of the Skull Toys Dokuro figure is sctually going to be packaged with. There are various sizes, styles and colors of Obitsu Bodies available. and again welcome to our humble little cybo-port... - Guy

Guy, do those work well under vintage costumes? I've been using Cotswold Elite Brigade GI Joe style figures, which work well but are a bit larger in the chest mainly, so some costumes, like Mach Baron are a bit tight.
Ive' seen the Obitsu's before, and have one of the female figures I bought from Volks way back when they were first introducing them at a Hobby show here in Chicago, but I don't have any of the male figures.
Worth checking out?
And hello and welcome Xyborg! Glad to see a new face in the hobby!

Welcome to the board, xyborg7! Why lurk when you can join in? And where else can you enjoy erudite discussion and artistic photography about such esoteric subject matter? We can even convice ourselves it's halfway normal!
I like the Obitsu bodies, Guy; do they come without knockers?

I suppose people DO occasionally notice the abundantly feminine Obitsu Bodies. The Skull toys new outfit actually comes dressed on a MALE obitsu body. Please ignore that fact that someone at the company did nt understans hlw shoulders should look and placed the clear arms on the figure BACKWARDS. The figure should like the one below when properly assembled. Hope that helps clarify things, Cheers, Guy

Wow, thanks for the warm welcomes. Although my time is limited(3 children under 5 years old). I do hope to provide the board with some entertainment. And those bodies look awesome. Imagine my chagrin when yesterday I tried putting that skull king outfit on my 12 inch cyborg. Bummed. Hahahaha. Still learning. The exohead is awesome but tiny. And I also just received a hornetroid with a box! I didn't even have one of those as a child. Awesome. Many of my unchild friendly toys stay in my shop, such as the small takara megalon and jet jaguar. They have a hard enough time keeping it together as it is. One hard look and , plonk, off falls an arm. Hahahah. Sorry about the lengthy entrys. I'm just a bit excited to be able to talk about all this wit other "adults" so please forgive me.

Ah yes, small kids... mine are a bit older now, and are even allowed to touch Daddy's precious toys on occasion. But, when they were toddling, sliding locks were the answer. Once, though, an empty triple Acroyear box slipped from my hand where I was admiring it and my youngest went over it like a steamroller before it even hit the floor. It popped back into shape and only has one major crease. The only casualty, as far as I can remember.

Xborg, Remember, the Skull toys suit won't fit on a NHC cyborg unless you perform a bit of cosmetic surgery. If you need any help on cosmetic altering of the NHC, or Cyborg 99, please shoot me a message. Otherwise, In Japan the Obitsu Body is pretty popular. That body has loads of articulation (you may loosen a screw if swivel joints, or any joints are too tight)
THe Obitsu body can be popped apart at the torso, neck, feet, hands, etc. It also has two different neck joints, hands and ankle extender rings.
The black figure is not AS transparent as a cyborg, but it is more of a very dark cloudy color. Light can be seen through it to some degree.
Hopefully you are getting something out of this thing called toy talk... - Guy

I've benefitted already. Thanks for all your advice. I'm definately going to invest in those figures. The dark and the clear both. Great prices!!!! When I get home tonight, and I'm not on my sidekick, I have a new thread I'm gonna start. Hopefully it won't be retreading the past. I have read back about 8 pages. Let the nerdery begin!!!!!!

Obitsu is great because you can take off their arms, legs, torso and everything without even screws, unless you want to split the chest in two, etc. Obitsu hands and feet are also compatible with Medicom bodies, which is good. There are also obitsu bodioes with magnets on their feet so they can climb up your fridge. THe only disadvantage is that their chests are wider than other figures, so clothes don't always fit well.
And welcome xborg7!

Sorry Yoju, Totally missed your question. Yes the bodies work well on the vintage stuff too. The figure may have a few problems with Getta Robo & Mazinga's undies I'm afraid, the other costume bits fit fine though. Mach baron's costume is actually a great fit and even easier putting all the vinyl arm sleeves on the doll since you can pull off the arms of an obitsu. The big thing is that the doll is affordable and has a huge range of tight articulation that can be easily tightened or lessened, whatever the need may be. Here is the suit with a vintage costume vs the old body. Both are "safely standing" in a pose, though the Obitsu's pose is much tighter and better balanced. Cheers, Guy

Guy, can the bodies be dismantled completely? ie so that they could be painted clear yellow/purple/blue/green or even red from the inside, I needn't say more.

What you can't just remove, you can unscrew, so the answer to your question is yes. I think you can even take apart the neckpieces, but I'm not at home so I'll have to check. They're alot easier to take apart than NHC's for example, and even easier than the new microman bodies.
Head, arms, torso, pelvis, legs, hands and feet, neck can all be removes just by tugging (the arms and legs, and pelvis go into the torso via a post, just like hands and feet normally do on other figures) and those can all be split in half by unscrewing them.

johnny, cool.
Are the insides hollow or solid? If hollow that would make them easier to paint of course. Have you tried customising any of these?

Another question on the obitsu bodies, if the torso is hollow, would it be possible to put some custom guts in there?

So the snag with painting them on the inside is that the forearms seem to be glued together even if there is a screw - maybe they just need some jacking, but I don't want to try it. Also, the forearms and calves only have a hollow tube in the for the hand or foot. The rest of the body is hollow. I'd just paint them on the outside, but no I haven't tried yet. There is some space in the toso for some guts, butthey aren't crustal clear the colour is like cloudy white. The black ones are only a little translucent, they look black in most lights. The chest has screws and things so it limits guts space, but the abdomen is much more empty.
